... Debra and Steve's hotel. (Earlier in the day, they held a barbecue for all of their guests.) Most of the gang were still there, so we ended up going out to dinner. Food was pretty good. I enjoyed seafood linguine. But the highlight again was chatting with the others and making new friends. I had never gone on vacation with a bunch of people before. It has been a lot of fun. If ever there is an opportunity, I would do it again.
... which we had not looked at since leaving Rosa’s place. When I opened my dive bag I was really surprised to find an enormous cockroach (dead)!
Armed with fins, masks and snorkels we set off for the beach and plunged in. However, the visibility was not really very good and after a period of thrashing around and spotting only a few glimpses of fish we decided to call it a day. We made our way towards the shore through the shallow waters, sitting down to remove ...
Friday 24 July 2009 – boring travel day
I am writing this at 3.30am whilst waiting in the transit lounge at Darwin airport. We girls managed to get several hours sleep on the flight from Singapore, whilst Paul only managed 45 minutes. He is now running on empty so will need a nap later. There has been another time change – the clocks have gone forward another 1.5 hours. Seems unusual to go forward half an hour. Duty Free shop has just ...

Vom ...

Cape Tribulation, Queensland, Australia katelin... be legal anywhere else. Basically it's a zoo with no cages. You walk around and feed the wallabies and kangaroos. We held a koala (they're stocky and heavier than one would imagine, and a little feisty too). Oh, and apparantly there were crocadiles walking about the entire time that we didn't know - They're good hiders, the zoo people said. Good thing they didn't feel hungry when we got near. It was awesome, though! And it rained the entire time. Then it was off ...

Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia easygeeze... 7.30 the fireworks began and it was spectacular - i had a proper moment then, being abroad, travelling and the enourmity of it all, think it sank in at that point and i felt rather emotional (or was it the beer?). David was an ex photographer of 20 years and we had plenty to talk about being nerds and he gave me loads of camera tips. After the fireworks and more beer, we headed to this massive stage for some live music (Wayne and David ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia clairebr... one, here the instructor lets you slip off the platform and then stops you straight away and now you must grab onto the rope turn yourself upside down and zip line to the other platform hanging upside down, again its hard to make your brain trust what you are doing, I manage to hang upside down but can't get my hands to let go, once again Tommy outshines me and does exactly what is asked off him. Then its over we both enjoyed it but there is alot of waiting around on platforms ...
Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia tommy-elaine... Lorna took about 15 minutes to edge her way fully into the river! There is quite a good current here and when you get the right place, it shoots you down river through the rocks. Although you don't usually miss the rocks and sometimes you are grabbing hold of them for dear life!! There are big signs everywhere saying that drownings regularly occur here - we read them AFTER we had been in the gorge! Dumbasses! The ...
