... it out. Below the cliffs, the ruins of a castle sit on a large rock. It’s possible to climb down and walk through it, but we weren’t up to it at that point. We did get some lovely pictures, though.

Back to the b&b, where we went into the bar for a short while and talked to some of the other guests. One, a girl from Liverpool and now Belfast, has actually been to Cedar Point! We’re now back in our room and getting ready to turn off the lights.

... brother in Cleveland. It was fun to talk with them for a while before we went back to the lodge. Because it had wireless, I was able to upload my blog, and I worked on that for a while. We had some tea and biscuits and went down to our room to finish watching some TV. I had told Bernie not to turn the heat on for just the two of us, and there was a little chill in the room. Once we got under the very heavy duvet, though, we were more than warm enough, and knew we would sleep well.

It is a large metal ship, but its covered with skeletons in memory of all the people who died on "the coffin ships" when they were emigrating out of Ireland. It was a pretty moving sight and I am glad that we stopped there....

Alot of these pictures have the same title, but they are different
Livin the life as a 19th century landlord.

... turlough (which is a shallow limestone lake that fills in the fall and dries up in the spring/summer) that the house overlooks and expansive lawns and gardens.

There was also a museum that showed us how the people who lived on their land would have lived and how they survived. Definately nowhere close to how the Fitzgerald lived... these are just some of the pictures that I took of the grounds....
The Abbey "That refused to die"

... priests of this church have never stopped preaching. They would tell the king that they had shut it down, but every day they still held mass. When The church was in too poor shape to use they held mass in the fields. The priests even had to dress like women at times to go out and bless graves and such in public...now thats perseverance! It was a good first stop on our weekend journey

click on the pictures to view captions about them!

... the grounds after breakfast. We saw people taking falcon lessons while we wandered up and down the garden paths. Strangely though we did not see any small animals at all.
Eventually we had to check out and get on the road to our next adventure. We stopped by in the village next to the castle, Cong. It's half in Co. Mayo and half in Co. Galway. The river that flows into the lake rises in Cong. Next stop Galway City.

This was one of the most beautiful areas for Ireland and I was excited to photograph it, but the rain and the clouds hid the mountains from me today.

Eventually the air-mass changed and I was no longer cold, but I was starting to get discouraged. My new home!

Now I am in Ireland to experience the country - but never did I think I would do so literally. My new home, Castlebar in county Mayo is a little country town where the cows are never far away! Seriously though, my home is an easy 10 minute walk to the town centre and I can always smell cows! Now I must say it isnt the smallest town I have ever lived in - really, Proserpine was the smallest, Castlebar is not far off, but it is a ...

Kilrush – Westport

(Originally published at http://www.troysgonewalkabout.com)
< br>Another grey and rainy morning beckoned, but it hardly dampened our mood as we drove by the dramatic cliffs and beach-side town of Kilkee, and kept on going north until a little later in the morning we stopped at the incredibly popular Cliffs of Moher. Along the lookouts there we were buffeted around in the wind almost as much as we were buffeted ...
