Historical Traveler Reviews Bravo Beach Hotel Isla de Vieques
It was off season, but still expected more.
The hotel was beautiful. We loved the colors and décor of the room. Very cool lighting and very romantic. Also the owners/managers were an incredible help to us in getting to the island. We loved the view from the balcony and the A/C was the best of any of the three hotels we stayed at during our entire Puerto Rico trip. However, we traveled during the off-season (Oct. 1 was our check-in). The food space at the hotel was closed and the location of the hotel made it very difficult to find a "good" meal. It would have been impossible without a rental car. The hotel location definitely could have been nicer (located in a neighborhood with lots of barking dogs at night and roosters bright and early in the morning. The door to the room was minimal (wood planks with a screen), taking little more than a hard push to break in to if someone wanted to. This also made noise both inside the room and outside the room easy to hear. The bathroom was small and had mildew on the shower curtain. Also don't expect to lie out on a beach here, but the view again is very nice. We ended up leaving the hotel after one night... there was no phone in our room, but we had a cell phone to use to make another reservation so we moved to the Wyndham Martineau Bay Resort property (loved it!) which was more along the lines of what we had in mind (and had the best restaurant of what was open on the island at the time).
Renewing vows at Bravo!
My husband and I stayed at Bravo for a week starting on August 12, 2004. The hotel staff helped me surprise my husband by arranging for us to renew our vows. The personal attention from owners Mark and Christian, as well as from Marietta on staff, made us feel we were the only guests. Chef Michael prepared a special meal for us at Bravo after we renewed our vows that was world class.
We liked the way the rooms were decorated so much, that my husband wants to buy or make the bed.
We also highly enjoyed the gourmet deli at Bravo called Chef Michael's food space for our daily spanish red wine and gourmet cheese.
We can't say enough about Bravo, except that we will definitely return!
Bravo is the best place to stay on Vieques
I've been to Vieques 4 times in the last year, and if you are planning a trip there, staying at ˇBravo! is a must. Designed with impeccable taste, ˇBravo! is comfortable and modern. The rooms have a beautiful oceanview, perfect for watching the sunset off your patio. The villa will make you never want to leave. The staff is super nice and extremely knowledgeable of the island. They will help you with any of your vacationing desires.
Chef Michael's Food Space at !Bravo! is a mandatory daily stop for all your meats and cheeses, wine, and also a great place to have a coffee by the pool, or a special dinner.
The Best Destination Wedding Weekend!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bravo Beach Hotel for a friend's wedding in Vieques. The size of the boutique hotel was great for meeting new people and enjoying a relaxing vacation -- Food Space provided equisite breakfasts and lunches by the pool. The managers made all of the wedding guests feel very welcome and helped my friend pull off a perfect wedding reception. I would highly recommend Bravo to those who want a unique and refreshing vacation experience in Puerto Rico!
A Special Place on a Secluded Island
The Island of Vieques is very special and we enjoyed being there so much. The Bravo is a beautiful B&B and the rooms are great. It's a little more metropolitan than the rest of the island which was welcomed by us being from NYC. There's a fantastic gourmet food shop on the premisis and the staff was great. The pool is lovely and overlooks the ocean.
We had a wonderful time!
My wife and I had a wonderful seven day vacation in Vieques. A big part of our positive experience was our stay at Bravo! Our room was very nice. We stayed in room number 5; directly above FoodSpace and overlooking the pool and the ocean. It was great to wake up every morning and fall asleep every night to the sound of the ocean's waves. We had an outstanding meal at FoodSpace's Bistro Night. In fact it was one of the best meals that I have ever had.....the scallop and edemame ceviche will linger in my mind for some time to come. However, what made the week very enjoyable was the personal service and the personable approach of the Bravo and FoodSpace staff: Marietta suggesting restaurants to eat at and booking reservations for our bio-bay trip, JoAnn remembering every morning how my wife and I like our coffee, Roberto's cheerful smile and warm greetings. FoodSpace was able to supply a chilled bottle of wine (in the mini-fridge in the room), prior to our arrival (a request that I made at the time I booked the hotel reservation). Every one really made us feel comfortable. We are already planning a return trip.....maybe a stay in the Villa...so that we can bring family along.
I've stayed in fancier and more expensive hotels while on vacation, but have not had a more enjoyable and relaxing stay than at Bravo!
The Villa at Bravo!
My friend and I were were thrilled with the 2 bedroom Villa at Bravo! with its simple and colorful decor, almost private pool and garden area (the young property help did a little peaking) and the gorgeous view of the Atlantic from the spacious porch. There were two bathrooms. One was a master bath with a door to the outside porch, a fabulous shower and two sinks. The villa can also be rented with the additional upstairs room with 2nd floor patios and a third separate room downstairs with its own entrance. Perfect for weddings or 4 couples.
Chef Micheal's was closed when we were there but we were able to get some things as we wanted from the manager.
Our only complaints were the lack of lighting in the bedrooms and the staff could have been a little more customer service oriented but that could have been due to the vacationing managers.
My partner and I spent a week at Bravo and it was a perfect experience!! The staff is so charming and helpful in giving directions to the beach (Garcia breach is great), making recommendations for lunch (Tropical Baby's is fabulous) or suggesting things to see and do on Vieques (BioBay is amazing). They go over the top and give such personalized service!! The staff finalized our plans so we did not have to worry about them ourselves. They booked our flight transfer from San Juan to Vieques, reserved a jeep from Martineau Bay (best place to rent cars), and made dinner reservations in advance for us at Chef Michael's FoodSpace. The two managers took the time to show us around the property and introduce us to the rooms they designed. The rooms are stunning!!! The oceanfront views are so warm and inviting with unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean. The beds are so comfortable - a joy to sleep on. We enjoyed getting wine and cheese from FoodSpace and sitting on our private patio enjoying the best sunsets on Vieques. The grounds are pretty, especially at night when the gardens are lit. The property and rooms are so clean!!! It was a great vacation!! We would definitely stay at Bravo again!!!
We had a wonderful time in Vieques a weekend on June 2004, and the extra mile approach of the management of Bravo and the impeccable service contributed to our awesome experience. From the first telephone contact I made with the
front desk to the great effort of Liz for our return flight, we anticipated that Bravo was a great property to stay at. But our expectations were surpassed by all of the personnel and we are all thankful for the good care Bravo gave us. The food is great and the amenities in the rooms superb. When we think of visiting Vieques again in the future (which will hopefully be soon), we will definitely think in Bravo as the place to stay.
Right from my initial contact with BRAVO the service was top notch. Liz was very helpful in taking our reservation. She also made our transfer to Vieques quite painless by arranging our flights from san Juan to Vieques and they even made our car reservation for us on the island. Upon arriving to BRAVO, we were immediatly taken by the blend of tropical colors of the various BRAVO houses. So well thought out and a tropical treat for the weary snow bird eye. At the front desk we were enthusiastically greeted by Marietta who was a great fountain of information of where to go and what to see on the isalnd. We were then taken to our room by the managers, Christian and Mark. We learned that they were responsible for the look and design of the place and I must say we were quite charmed by their modesty and friendliness. And let me tell you the rooms are spectacular. As soon as you walk through the door the view takes your breath away. The framing of the ocean is divine and the room is so simple and sincere . The custom made beds and first class linens are a joy to sleep on. At night the room becomes quietly romantic. the underbed and tree lighting along with the soft blue egg lamp are the perfect catlyst for a romantic evening. All this and Chef Michael's foodspace right below us. Chef Michael made us up a delicious cheese and pate platter and he has an amazing selection of wine. just talking with him was a great pleasure. The boys also designed his store which is again so well thought out with the lighting and design. Breakfast which is included consisted of freshly baked pastries, bread and fresh fruit ... simply divine. They will also make you sandwiches and coolers for the beach. we were so well taken care of we didn't want to leave. The place is pretty new so I suspect next winter rooms will be impossible to get. Thank you all at BRAVO for one of the best getaways we have ever had.

Today we ran into 2 rogue lobster pods that got caught on the port zinc of the ship. We had to change course and make anchor in St John. There we had the chance to jump into the water finally.
