There are still many locals about though. You can't sustain a town of this size without the support staff, and they have to live here. And the thousands of bicycles parked around the city testify to the sheer number of local people still about.

Different members of the staff are more or less agreeable to giving us access to areas of the College, and it was fun to watch Larry work his Larry-ness to get us what we needed. I also met the executive chef of Pembroke, and Michael named me "Dietary Restrictions Liaison" for the program, so I have a meeting with the chef tomorrow at 10AM to talk about everyone's allergies and ...
