          Brazil - Buzios

A travel blog entry by mattcoopers on Jul 19, 2014

... out of the tree and land on a clay pot, below which has a massive cactus in it. The pot shatters all over the floor, and my shin is throbbing, just below my knee. Coked up, it didn't hurt so much, but now, I have a massive bruise from knee to bottom of shin and some swelling. It's healing ok though. I can still surf, that's the main thing. The hostel staff threaten to kick us out, so we leave the hostel and go on a pub crawl. Between beers, we walk down tithe pier to rack up. We end ...

Buzios is a little more that two hours from Rio de Janeiro and is a long string of beautiful beaches. It was relatively unknown until Brigitte Bardot visited it in the 60’s to escape the paparazzi. Since then it has become very popular with travellers from around the world. Along the beach there is a bronze statue commemorating her visit and is a ...

So I go talk to her just to be courteous and she scares the **** out of me because she tells me she knows where I am staying. I ask her how she knows this and she tells me that she knows everything that goes on ...

          Last Night in Rio

A travel blog entry by will.traveller on Feb 22, 2007

With Carnaval over, it is now time to hit the neglected museums: modern art, folklore, Catete Palace. All nice but none remarkable. It is my last day in Rio. I finally convince the family to go out for dinner and let me pay (they feel it is an extravagance). The grandparents Mario and Paula as well as the uncle Jose and his Paula enjoy a very nice evening. With Jose translating, many thoughts and feelings were expressed. ...

          The concrete mattress

... bus that was waiting at the bottom. A grand total distance of around thirty centimetres. James would also like to add that his mattress at the Santa Clara Hotel was as hard as a rock. I thought he was just stuck in whinging mode after the Pantanal, until I rolled onto it in the middle of the night and thought I'd fallen on the floor by ...
