Exploring the Acropolis

... It also looks a little deserty. The buildings are all big white squares so it's completely different from where I've been. Athens doesn't have a clean, high class feel either. Anyways, we found ourselves in the middle of Athens.

Bekah and I walked to the south side of the Acropolis and we could see the Parthenon sitting on top of the hill. All sorts of ruins are at the foot of the hill. We walked through the Theater of Dionysus, whose stone stage ...

Not Even an Ocean Can Cool Our Feet

... getting on the right line, validating the tickets, and jumping off at the right stop. Flashing back to the day of pandemonium Mary Lou and Wedding Belle and I had trying to get to the beach that balmy Saturday in early September, I grinned at the difference three months has made. Tourist season is now firmly over and the weather is cool, so there were more stray dogs on the beach than people. But Godiva had a great time splashing around in the surf and digging little ...

Greek Island Contiki Cruise

... for a few hours until our flight, this is when the trouble hit, as our flight was suppose to leave at 9:30pm but we didn't get to board until 12 midnight, it was not nice. We were dog tired, operating on 4 hours sleep from the night before and just wanting to be home. 4:30am we got back home! Overall it was a fabulas time, the group of us all got along really well, we had fun exploring and hanging about on the boat, everyone was so friendly. We had lots of laughs and good times! xo

Athens - hot hot hot

... person that ensure their uniforms is just so. He also wiped their brows - as I said it was over 100 F. Luckily they did have a little booth they stood beside that had an anwing to protect them from the sun. We continued walking and passed thru the National gardens. It certainly doesn't compare to any national garden I've seen but it was nice to walk thru a green space and escape the heat and traffic noise. We also ...

My last few weeks in Greece...

... over for dinner! It was a lovely day. Monday was a lot of studying and getting work done until the night when our entire apartment and some girls from the other apartment went to see the Tokyo Ballet, at the ancient amphitheater! And although the opera was my favorite, I absolutely loved the ballet! It was so much fun! The dancers were so talented, and so in shape that some of the moves they could do were unthinkable! Tuesday we went to the beach, but ...

I wanted to touch every thing... they have guards that do not allow you to touch the marble... i wanted to kiss the ground... and feel every building...!!!!! Greece is a beautiful city ...

Athens, Greece

... up to the hype and constant exposure. (unlike the Taj Mahal which was bigger than life and had a spiritual presence that photographs can't convey) The Acropolis was a busy construction site with scaffolding covering most of the buildings, huge cranes looming, and too many workers with their typical metal offices on site. But Rick didn't mind the distractions, and especially liked all the details of the sculptured figures. Below the Acropolis, old town ...

hangin in the sun at Santorini....

... galore! Thats where all the classic shots from here are taken Ive discovered....very picturesque. Hope some of my shots work! Im staying in Fira, at this nice little place I found which also had dorm rooms. It has some nice terrace views to the ocean, but not the caldera side. But still quite lovely. The dorm only has four beds and two of them are upstairs in this cool little room with the rounded roof. Plus we have a tv and a fridge! so for dorm standards its ...

... were jealous of us. They also all went to Applebee's and hated it. They said they would never eat at a American place in a foreign country again. Our bus came early which was really nice, so we got to go home early. We left Glyfada around 9:00pm and got back to the Artemis around 9:30 or so. It ended up being a really good trip, and I am glad that they took us there. We are thinking about going back sometime, just to eat at Pasta Viva again!!
