... in need of a bloody good whipper snipper and some TLC. So much so that he is now on TripAdvisor to see what other people thought of it. Built in 6th century and not had the lawns touched since. Constitutional Court building. Impressive building with hundreds of statues lining the bridge to it. Mustafa Pasha mosque. Beautiful ornate ceiling. ... as cafés and restaurants. Another perfect example of just how fake this whole project was.

Going back to the apartment to eat we relaxed as well as cooled down from the high temperatures of the city. However being many days into the trip we had acclimatised quite well - so much so that with the air con being set to 25C, I started getting cold and ended up turning it off and putting a jacket on!

... or Ottoman shopping bazaar with narrow, winding pedestrian streets lined with wares.

These younger guys weren't too keen on their government and all of the borrowing that's going on with the building boom. It wasn't until I was in line at the airport on our flight out to Istanbul that a woman from New York said they had a devastating earthquake 15 years ago or so that leveled all the buildings. I looked it up and it was actually in 1963. ...

... past I foolishly believed that by the time we reached Sofia, the weather would improve, but this wasn't to be the case. The lightening had stopped, but the rain continued to hammer down, so a short walk to the hostel, soon became a short taxi ride. Having arrived around midnight, I dashed out to a cashpoint to pay for the hostel, got some sleep before my alarm sounded at 6!

At that time I headed down to the bus station to catch what I thought was a 7am bus ...

... was great. It even has red double decker busses, which I assume were another way to try to make it touristy.

I spent the rest of the day walking around the city, and then chilled at the hotel for a couple hours in the afternoon. The weather cleared up in the afternoon, so I got to see the city in the sun and it is a really nice place. Unfortunately, in the evening, the rain started again. I went back out to ...
