Dublin Road Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland
... floors. We walked around for about an hour, then left Carrickfergus.
Our next stop was Downpatrick, which meant driving around the busy city of Belfast. We were happy to escape the city and get on less crowded roads. When we got to Downpatrick, we went straight to Down Cathedral which is the burial site of Sts. Patrick, Bridgid, and Columbkill. We found St. Patrick’s stone, but most believe he and the others are buried beneath the church. The church was lovely, and it is ...

One of the Irish Round Towers is here as well. These were used as lookouts as well as refuges. The door is usually 12-20 ft up and was accessed by ladder. The first floor inside also had a ladder access on the inside. After going in, the ladders were pulled up.
... girl throwing her arms around the bar area, not dance floor, knocked Emily's fresh Guinness pint out her hand over the 2 of us. Later on some Irish Bint scrumaged her way into bar space at the pumps pushing us into the exit area. Then she wanted more space for her friend, I objected, she pushed anyway then asked the barman to 'show some Irish pride' and serve her first. *****. Left on the 4 am bus to sleep on the back seat as the clocks went back an hour.
Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland broony79... I don't know how to describe them other than to say they were a jazzy brass band that mixed in a lot of comic performance and interaction with the audience. I've been searching Youtube for videos, because you have to see these folks; words don't do them justice. I can't find anything, though. I don't even know the name of the band. If anyone reading this has been to Dublin and seen them, let me know. After that, it was one more pint at O'Sullivan's and off to the airport.
Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland mattenderle... was back to the Irish Pubs for one more day of drinking. This time we went to more touristy pubs like Temple Bar. It was filled with people from all over the world drinking beer, singing to Irish music, and swaying back and forth. It was an absolute blast. By Sunday I had enough Irish beer and opted for Coors Light. You know what they say...you can take the girl out of America but you can't take the American out of the ...
Dublin, Ireland mholtz... Except the bus didn't start again. Told ya it was a shady tour. After 15 minutes of trying to get it started, the guide wanders off in search of a phone..or something. No one is quite sure as he kind of just mumbled and cussed a lot. Luckily, after a bit more time he comes back in, gives it one more try and magically it starts! We could get to our next destination, at least, and switch buses there. Our next ...
Drogheda, Ireland sarahindenmark... burried there. We never did make it inside the church. We then decided we were going to walk to Pheonix park but realized it was just too far... so instead we went to the National Museum of Ireland for free. Very interesting and a lot of cool things there. It was about 330 wehn we were done and decided to go back to the hostel and chill for the night... and that is what we did. We then got to the airport again 3 hours early. My luggage was ...
Dublin, Ireland julieflickner3... to sky, coastline and cliffs. Had a great moment there, lying on the side of a cliff just soaking it all in..wondering how I even got there. Had a glitch to work out in Ballintoy, the ferry from Belfast to Scotland was 12:30 and the 1st bus out of nowhere's ville was 11:00am. But it turns out that I met this great Kiwi couple at the hostel, and after hearing where I was headed, it turns out they were headed there in the morning as well....so they were nice enough to give me a ...
Belfast/Derry/Ballintoy, Ireland jewels24... chain, greeted our tour group, and I had my picture taken with him. He's been to Chicago before, and, in his words, he "thought the seaside there was lovely." Then we set off for Newgrange, the 4000+ year old Celtic burial mound, but by the time we booked into our hostel, we were too late to get a guided tour. Because we have to have the car returned to Dublin ...
