... with ketchup and mayo! Everything was delicious. We also took in some of the major tourist attractions, the Atomium, Manneken Pis, and the Royal Palace. The best part of the day was chocolate shopping in the several hundreds of chocolate shops!
Our trip was short, so we left the following morning…planes, trains, and automobiles filled up the day until we finally arrived back home in Florence.
I’ll update you soon,
Siara
... They are good, but I think I like my fries crispier, served with a combination of mayonnaise and ketchup, which the Belgians find very weird. The next day was very rainy, but I went out for a short while to visit the Salvador Dali exhibit and the Mannekin Pis. The Mannekin Pis is a statue of a little boy peeing. It is very small, very weird and is often referred to as the national symbol of Belgium. The mannekin pis is always wearing a ...
Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium j.mccrary... is she?). I spent the afternoon with Helene looking for comic murals around central Brussels. Got a sunburn and very tired but it was great to hang out with Helene and see a bit of the city. And along the lines of "it's a small world." -- My friend Derry, who lives in DC and who I never see, was at Karin and Mariano's all day Sunday. He's on his way to Liberia where he will also run into my house mate Laurie. -- Derry's sister will be in ...
Brussels, Brussels, Belgium edithdc... Koekelberg and was not only extensive but also extremely fascinating. Items shown started with his earliest known works and took you on a journey (along with an English speaking ear piece) first chronologically through his life, then his art and finally his inventions. There were additional works on display by Rafael and Michelangelo - including a Rafael copy of the Mona Lisa. Of course no Da Vinci exhibit would be complete ...
Brussels, Belgium croxandliltBRUSSELS BELGIUM April 29, 2007 Only a brief stopover here to exit the Euro-train and pick up our tour bus. Brussels is a cosmopolitan city, with a liveliness and an appeal that are intimately related to its role as a crossroads for all of Europe. Architectural styles range from Gothic cathedrals and churches to the gracious classical facades of the Palais des Nations, the Royal Palace and to the many art nouveau and art deco houses in the comfortable neighborhoods where the ...
Bruxelles, Belgium perlevalWell, due to some necessary itinerary rearrangements, Mayu and I have had to basically eradicate the Belgium plans. Originally we were going to spend several nights in Bruges and try to take in a few other places from there. But with her needing to go home early for work, we had to cut something in order to fit in Spain, Italy and - most importantly - Greece. So, out were the four to five nights in Belgium and Luxembourg and up came Spain before Paris in early ...
Brussels, Belgium xerius... the highest quality vanilla, sugar, butter and 70% cocoa powder. This is a real factory with enormous chocolate blocks piled high and brown drippings everywhere. Sorry Hershey's, but the cocoa here is not replaced with palm oil, chemicals, coloring, vegetable fats and lard. This is as pure as it gets and it's better than Swiss. They sell direct to Bergoff and Neimans in NYC. There are 443 chocolate factories in Belgium all with the competitive spirit of Tour de France between ...
Belgiun, Bruges, Amsterdam, Belgium suzyafs... to wear for the evenings thanks to mon ami Alison. I still wanna actually see your closet gurl! Speaking of California it was SO FUNNY, Last tuesday when I was at the bar, The Frog and Princess, and I snoop song came on. Everyone started dancing and yelling "California" and throwing their hands up in the air...hahaha...it was really cute. It was even funnier when I was trying to teach some guy how to dance "more American". Loosen up, more attitude. Now that was pretty funny!
Brussels, Belgium babydoll9983... Some of the other tourists must have agreed too, because a group from the UK were all like, "Awww, it's so SMALL!" Haha, nevertheless, it was very cute anyway. From there, we salivated over oodles of chocolate before finally succumbing to a couple of boxes and also bought some Belgian waffles slathered in chocolate and white powdered sugar that had a tendency to blow all over our faces whenever the slightest gust of wind blew our ...
