Greetings from Melbourne

... anywhere for a week. Whilst it is great to travel, it is hard work, can be unsettling for the kids and the continual packing and unpacking is a real drag. We are no longer off to Tasmania, due to the ferries being booked and wanting to take a very leisurely pace for a few weeks via the Great Ocean Road and Adelaide and its wine regions, before catching the train to Perth.

Take care all of you, well done to the Chilli Peppers and happy Halloween.

The Loves

Wee visit with Emma..

... all...a fantastic visit! Eating, and drinking with great company and conversation...it really was a nice change. I really cherish my friends, it's a shame that they all live in various parts of the world and i dont see them nearly enough but the special thing is...is that when i do see them, it's like no time has passed and no distance has distanced us! And Im fortunate enough to have special friends to miss...as i say bye to another one, for now.
... stopped eating and looked up in unison at her. March 21, After breakfast Jim was standing by the van when to parrots suddenly tried to sit on my hands. After recovering from the initial surprise Jim fed them some crackers. We left in good time as we knew we had to return the van to Melbourne that afternoon. Thank goodness for Rosie as we she successfully guided us through downtown Melbourne back to the Calypso gaage. From there we took a taxi to St. Kilda, a seaside suburb of Melbourne.

Mount Dandenong 1000 Step Hike!

Feeling very out of shape since my arrival Katie finally had time to take me to this big hike on Mount Dandenong. The only details I was given was 'the 1000 steps'! It didn't seem too bad as I had no trouble hiking up the Eiffel Tower's 782 steps less than six weeks back so I thought 'I can do it'! Well I did it and was I disappointed in myself! Yes I made it ...

Back to work in Melbourne

... with the room and we concentrated on step two: get a job. There was a big turn in the global economy in mid-October and that affected temp jobs - recruitment agencies seemed less hopeful on finding either one of us anything and kept telling us that the races (public holidays) and Christmas are slowing down recruitment... O'oh, we need jobs and there's nothing around!? In the end Johanna did get a job within 10 days; receptionist for the first week and then a boring ...

I checked in for my 3 nights in Melbourne and immediately called my friend Simon, that I had met on my Frasier Island trip (he was spending Christmas with his Aunt and Uncle in Albert park, only a short distance away), so that we could meet up for some beers. After I had got cleaned up, and had some dinner, we headed over to the bottle shop for some beers and went back to my ...
