... as they covered quite a lot of ground. They were very impressive to see and certainly fascinated Rose. Leaving Carnac we then travelled for another hour to see something called The Universe Of The Scrap Metal Poet. This was an installation of moving sculptures created by an eccentric ex-teacher in a small Brittany village. Using discarded scrap materials, he created an impressive number of impressive indoor scenes and outdoor sculptures over a period of ...

We spent the weekend in Bretagne, one day in Nantes, and a few days in the sea resort town of La Baule, spending some quality time with family, taking the sun, enjoying the food and exploring the surroundings.

Nous avons passe le weekend en Bretagne, un jour a Nantes puis quelques jours a La Baule. Nous avons pu nous y reposer, profiter de la famille, du soleil, de la cuisine francaise et explorer les allentours.

... we decide to try out our beach tennis kit instead. We are not good, and after we realise people are watching and we are failing embarrassingly, we return to the beach towel with tails between legs. After lunch we decide to visit Carnac, a local site not unlike Stonehenge in age and what is known about it. The site has 3000 stones, some giant others much smaller, arranged in straight lines across a stretch of land somewhere in the region of 3-5 miles long. Compared to ...

... realising we were in a vegetarian restaurant. Also had a fab day in Quiberon, and another in the area around Piriac - sur - Mer.

The boys love being driven around in the VW UP - who wouldn't - plump cushion in the back to snooze on and big windows to look out of. We've walked miles with them, I don't think they know what's hit them! Lucky boys.
