Iguazu Falls wow factor 9!

... to see any going on previous experience.
After drive through the sub tropical forest we arrive at the boat landing where we are given a dry bag and life vest. Anything to be kept dry goes in the bag, everything else will be very wet!Thank heavens for Tena pants! Oh I forgot them today.
OK off we go towards the falls swerving into various rapids on the way, just to kick up a bit of spray and set the tone for the trip. Screams are an optional ...

3 million liters a second - omg

... some photo ops, we stopped under the falls and I mean pretty much under the falls, luckily they had provided us with waterproof bags for our stuff.

After the boat ride we walked uphill to the top of the falls and caught a small train (like a toy train they have in theme parks) to the best part of the falls The devils throat. WOW that is amazing the spray rose out about 10 foot out of the top of the falls...

... hole. So Kira money bags bought me a pop and I popped about 1600mg of Ibuprofen and camped out on the lobby couch while they continued venturing.

We headed out for our bus back to Colonia and then proceeded directly back to our boat. We had to go through customs and everything again. Luckily though this time the boat ride was great. It was daylight so I could actually see the water and the horizon which I LOVE. I joked and said that our ride was good ...

... group picture in panoramic style. Some of them come out amazing - I'll upload once he sends them on.

We lunch at the falls restaurant trying to fight off the pesky racoons which do all and anything to gnab your grub. Our defence is a serious of stamping and hissing and basically scoffing our grub as quickly as possible.

... in order to get back to Bolivia. Having spent over 20 hours in a bus to get across northern Argentina, I didn't want to backtrack along the same route. The added bonus was that Paraguay was seldom visited by tourists, which was great because I was really tired of seeing tourists. The only snag was that Americans need a visa to visit Paraguay. So I thought I would just go through Brazil and cross over into Paraguay to get my visa at the ...

The Majesty of Iguazu Falls

... The long platform crossed the waters of the jungle for nearly 20 minutes before you got to the powerhouse of Iguazu Falls, La Garganta del Diablo. The walk was lovely and I even had a butterfly land on my hand and accompany me for a good part of the journey. Didn´t I say this place was magical? The power of the falls is unreal - I´ve never seen that kind of energy. Imagine a waterfall as an erupting volcano and you might get close. I was in awe.

After La Garganta ...

... the border is The Black Market where you can buy pretty much anything, particularly electrical goods for bargain prices. People drop crates in the Brazilian side of the river and fish them out in Paraguay – all completely legitimate I’m sure! We were warned that this could be a tricky border crossing and to only take photocopies of our passports, as it’s fairly common to have to pay a bribe to get them back, but we had no problems and ...

Iguazu Falls: Now I feel sorry for Niagara

After just a day in the Argentine capital we were back on a bus. Since we will be leaving out of B.A. and have seen dozens of cities in the past month, we decided to use two of our remaining five days to make our way sixteen hours northeast to the Brazillian border to see one of the ¨New Seven Wonders¨- Iguazu Falls. We traded the bustling metropolis complete with jackhammers outside our hotel room window at 8am, for a quiet jungle town complete with ...

Day Six - Our Second Wedding Anniversary!

... a great panoramic shot of the falls, and there was a spectacular rainbow while we were there. We also went up a glass elevator to an upper viewing platform, to see the falls from above. Just so breathtaking. We had zooburgers for lunch (zooburger = ****** overpriced hamburger, such as one might get at a zoo, served at any tourist attraction or gas station) by the top of the falls, near the water. We saw some cormorants sunning ...
