Bounty Island Mamanuca Islands, Fiji, 679-666-6999

We stayed in the Bounty Island resort (where Celebrity Love Island was filmed, what a claim to fame?) The accomodation was right on the beach, and was a bit basic compared to what we were used to. It had air-conditioning but that was where the luxury ended. The roof was made of canvas and we had a gecko in the shower (I had to keep look out in case it went for Hattie's throat). It was also our first experience of sleeping under a mosquito net. We went to the eating area for a barbecue tea, th...
Kadavu Island, Fiji danandhatThe last but not least island we visited was Bounty Island in the Mamanuca Group, south of the Yasawas. We stayed at Bounty Island Sanctuary Resort. Here we didnt stay in a buree. This resort was much more modern than the other, we think is because theya re closest to the main island (Viti Levu). Here we participated in the traditional Kava ceremony. We had a wonderful time, the people were just amazing. We will always remember Zuka and his singing, what a great person!!! We also visited Trea...
Bounty Island, Mamanuca Group, Fiji danielandvanesaGreetings from Fiji! I have been in Fiji for 3 days now, mostly time spent on a tiny 48 acre island about 30 minutes by boat from the main island of Fiji. Its been a pretty slow few days. Mostly snorkeling, lounging in the sun, reading, and eating. I've gotten pretty tan. The weather down here is really spectacular and the people are very friendly. It has a different feel than the Caribbean, but I can't quite place exactly why. In any case, its very pretty. There are lots of tiny little islan...
Nadi, Fiji jeffrey.peothe following days were pretty much the same: staying at a resort for one night and then moving on to another place somewhere around noon the next day... the weather continued being bad, except for one day that was as sunny as I expected it to be over the whole time.. and that was the sunday, when I went to a sunday church service on waya. so, as you can imagine, apart from that there wasn't much to do as lying on the beach doesn't make much sense when it's cloudy... spent most of the time wr...
Yasawa Islands, Yasawa Islands, Fiji kilianThe last of the islands we visited in the Yasawas was Bounty Island, named after Captain Bligh's ship 'The Bounty', one of the early explorers to discover Fiji. We left Kuata quite late and hence did not make it to Bounty until after 5pm. We realised we wouldn't be doing much here due to the late arrival and early departure in the morning for the 'Seaspray' trip. Our accommodation here was the best yet - it had air-con! The Bounty resort was much more up market than the others and hence our h...
Bounty Island, Fiji steveaGD: For our last 2 nights it was on to Bounty Island. It was hard for Traci to leave Octopus for the more basic Bounty. We found the snorekeling to be better for us. Free snorkel gear helped so we could snorkel together. Blue starfish seemed to be everywhere and we found that here was the best we've been for snorkeling. TB: Best snorkeling ever- like swimming in an aquarium, bright blue fish and rainbow fish everywhere even saw an octopus! GD: We also took advantage of the free kayaks and wen...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji trizzybIt was sad to say goodbye to coral view after just two short days, but it was time to move on. the staff sang good bye songs in fijian with guitars and ukalalaies (however you spell that) and sent us off in our tiny passenger boat after walking through knee high waves. funny to see the people wearing shoes and pants get soaked, obviously not on fiji time yet. next stop was manta ray island and, despite it not being manta ray season, it was a really good time. sean and i took kayaks out to the...
Yasawa Island, Yasawa Islands, Fiji tsquaredthings were still looking pretty grim when we headed out on our short voyage to bounty island, with the unrelenting rain putting a serious damper on our carefree good times. when we got there things didnt improve for the first little while, we got the bure (house) at the very far side of the resort, which sucked walking to in the pitch-black pouring rain as i hobbled with my cut up feet. the room had a nice queen bed and a ****** little kids style bunk bed, and i got shafted with the bunk bed...
Mamanuca Islands, Fiji tsquaredsorry about the novel of a last entry, i was really getting in the zone. anyways after we got back from the seaspray sailing trip we made it back just in time for our curry-fish buffet dinner at the resort. we had just enough time to sober up a bit in time for our first night dive. we aren't technically 'certified' for a night dive without our advanced ticket, but sean and i felt comfortable going because we know enough that we can take care of eachother in an emergency. it was well worth goi...
Mamanuca Islands, Fiji tsquared
... introduce my pastiness to the sun gradually not realising that was to be the ONLY day of blue skies over my 9 days in Fiji......BUGGER! Anyway me and a Welshman called Rhys I'd met on the plane over from LA checked into the Nadi Bay Resort, had a paddle in the pool and set about planning our trip to the Yasawa Islands. The Yasawa's are a group of something like 20 islands an hour or so off the mainland and you can pick and choose which ...
