... the water but there were some people way out who were using a parasail attached to a surf board and they were really moving across the water. Some people were flying kites. We walked around the end of South Point and then back up the other side and crossed back over to Ocean Drive at First Street. We walked up Ocean Drive for a while then found a bench in the shade to sit and watch. We saw beach volleyball being played. There were people travelling ...

After we got our rental Mini-van, we wanted to drive down by the ocean. Our goal was to drive through South Beach. We thought the kids would get a kick out of the freaks. We were only on the main drag and only saw a few freaks.

Certainly an interesting look! Dinner was more pasta..gah...least it was spaghetti bolognaise so there was a bit of meat.

Each morning when my alarm clock went off I wanted nothing more than to throw it off my fifteenth floor balcony. I knew that there had to be something more but just wasn't sure what it was. Then after a mid-year review presentation in Sarasota, one of the women in ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Boulevard Hotel Ocean Drive Miami Beach
Horrible Hotel
This has to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I was in Miami for the Winter Music Conference (2004) and was convinced to stay here despite all the bad reviews I saw on the net. I should have protested to my friends more, because this place is a shady rat hole, that is not fit for human excrement.
The walls are so thin you can hear conversations in the next room, AND across the hall in that room too. The advertisement to the hotel said that they offered complimentary breakfast, but when we got there they said that they had no such offer. The advertisement also said that they offered a shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. That was a lie too.
Dealing with management on these matters was a joke, and arguing with extra room charges that they put on my bill was about as fun as pulling teeth.
I could go on about how much this hotel sucked, but I won't, I'll just end this review with a warning.
Do not stay here. If you do, then you deserve to get what's comming.
Disgusting
There is only one word to describe our 1 night stay at the Boulevard Hotel... disgusting! To begin with the service was terrible. We couldn't use the elevator because there were piles of boxes blocking it. Our room was absolutely filthy. The carpet was disgusting, the sheets were torn, the bed was so hard it actually squeeked when you moved, but the best was the mold in the ice bucket. If it had not been 1 am and thunderstorming when we checked in we would have left. I would have much rather spend the night in our vehicle than pay $200 a night for absolute filth. Beware.
Horrible, Horrific
I suggest no one stay at this hotel SERIOUSLY! We bascially got to a room that had the worst cigarette smell. There was basically not enough light in the room, you could barely feel the air conditioner and yes the rug was burned w/ like an iron or something. We requested a change which they did but half way during the trip I wake up to find a waterbug in our room we scream for the housekeeper which was soo nice. She came to the rescue and not only found one but 3 waterbugs near our bed.
Basically if you want to shower w/ flip flops and sleep on your beach towel instead of the hotel sheets, then this is the place for you.
I would not wish this hotel upon my worst enemy
Not a good surprise!
I felt compelled to write this review because of the three star rating the Boulevard hotel is given, when in fact in should be rated one star! We rented two rooms for a week... the linens were burned and stained, the food odors were bad, the furniture was banged up, the bathroom tiles were falling off the walls and the first day the toliet plugged-up and wouldn't flush. I was very upset, since I had booked these rooms on-line with a reputable website, months earlier. Thanks to the web site company, they called the hotel desk and we were upgraded to the one mini suite that the hotel had. The mini suite was not a typical suite but it surely was better then the room we were shown. Our kids stayed in their own room, not really minding the room conditions. Next time, we will pay more and stay north or south of this hotel on Ocean Dr. And I was told AAA is the one rating these hotels!!!
Great location but terrible service and staff
Stayed at the Boulevard hotel in Apr 2004. The location of the hotel is great, right in the middle of everything. The standard was low but clean. BUT the staff was very unfriendly, disagreeable and dishonest.
They tried to swindle us more than once, on the price for the room, what was included in the price and taxi fares. Besides this they had no service mentality. The unfriendly attitude started upon check in and ended when we checked out. I do NOT recommend this hotel. Chosse another hotel on Ocean Drive, between 5th and 11th, if you would like to be right in the midle. Some other places I do recommend in the neighbourhood is Clevlander, a club/pub on Ocean Drive 1020, and Mohjito Lounge on 15th Street (might be on 14th...) - the best mohjitos in Florida!
Misguided and overcharged!
We stayed at the Boulevard Hotel Ocean Drive just one night (thank God). When we arrived at the hotel we were too early to check in so we asked the man behind the counter if he knew of any motorcycle shops within walking distance we could go look at to kill some time. He gave us directions to go a few blocks to 17th street and gave us the address. So we ventured out. Once on 17th street we found it was ALL residential properties. So we asked a man on the street and he told us that the motorcycle shop was in downtown Miami on 17th Street - not where the hotel clerk had sent us. So we went back to the hotel after walking an hour and a half to find a place that wasn't there, we waited to check in. We got in the room to find a large burn in the rug where someone had left a hot iron, and dingy bedding. The hallway outside our room reeked of the seafood they were serving at the resteraunt and marijuana people were smoking in their rooms. The next morning we went to the counter to check out and the man asked us if we had consumed any of the candy bars or water that was left in the room. We had no such thing in our room and we told him that. A few days after returning home there was a $14.00 charge for candy bars and water on my credit card.
Basically to anyone that wants to stay here - The location is great.
It's in the middle of everything. But I will recommend to spend the extra money and stay at a better hotel along the same strip. The staff was not helpful - obviously - and rude - I accidently bumped into a girl that worked there and kindly apologized and she turned around to me and gave me a nasty look and said "OUCH" with a serious attitude. We have stayed on Ocean Drive before and loved it. Never again will I return to the Boulevard Hotel again. I am also a Travel agent and I will never let my clients stay here!
The place to be
Friendly, Clean, safe and in the center of it all. This is the only place I will ever stay in South Beach it is great. Everything you want to do is just seconds from the hotel. Its great for us girls who have to wear those sexy shoes that kill our feet.
Wonderful!!!
My friend and I went to South Beach on Dec. 31, 03 and stayed for four days at the Boulevard. It was simply marvelous. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Ocean Drive is beautiful and Wet Willie's is a great place to enjoy inexpensive drinks. I'll be sure to stay at the Boulevard when I go back in July!!!!
Boulevard Hotel, Miami Beach, Florida
Would recommend the Boulevard Hotel for anyone looking for great accomodations in South Beach. Excellent location and can't say enough about how friendly and wonderful all the staff were. Hope to get back there again in the very near future.
Worst vacation ever!!!!!!!!
We stayed at the Boulevard Hotel in South Beach Miami. It had to be the worst trip I ever had there simply because of our HO..tel. First , we could not control the temprature of our own room that we paid $150.00 a night to stay in and the bed linens had burns, tears and stains on them. we booked an ocean view room and ended up on the side of the building above the kitchen vent that blew directly into our room. Not to mention the service was Horroble. South Beach is my favorite place to visit, but, this hotel ruined this trip!
