Back in KL

A travel blog entry by phat_gringo

Arrived in KL and caught the Train from the airport to the central train station. Jumped in a cab to get dropped at the hotel which was not too far away. Remember being freaked out by the traffic which seemed totally chaotic. Good to be back in KL again :)

Spent a hectic 3 nights at the Swiss Inn whose back entrance goes straigt on to Petaling Street - main street Chinatown - a place to push, be pushed, greeted, persued, cajoled and harrassed - but only for as long as you let yourself be.

Now to quiter part of town but where a door off the lift lobby takes you straight into a double mall - 5 …

Back in Kuala Lumpur, at last!!!

A travel blog entry by xuanargi

18 June 2009:

Our Airasia flight from Gold Coast to Kuala Lumpur was thankfully, smooth and without any problems, unlike our outward journey 2 weeks ago.

Upon arrival at the LCCT, we took the local bus to the KLIA Terminal as we had wanted to hire a car and we could not find a single car rental company at the LCCT, believe it or …

... and leave room for a large ikea! We had a quick look and then headed round the corner to the aquarium, the queue for which had a sign which read 45 minutes from this point, about a third of the way up - nobody had told us we had arrived on Malaysias big national holiday Diwali! So all the kids are off and all the parents are finding things to keep them occupied, for which an aquarium or a large tower is very well suited, especially when inbetween is a giant shopping centre with a ...

    OK Hotel

    from Cheahwc

We spent two night in a studio. Room is spacious with modern furniture, is new, clean and well maintain.

Downsite: No hotel own parking, have to use Megamall parking. Complicated to park and walk to hotel when you first arrive.

A hotel with great location, service, good value for money

    from karenh_abroad

I needed a hotel with central location between Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, within reasonable cost (we'll need a few rooms), access to public transport and near to a mall. This hotel answered "yes" to all the above!! I have booked online via their website, no problems at all although we had to make some adjustments a few times, the hotel was still flexible.

Due to a few major events in KL at the time of our stay and our own stupidity, we had to move to another hotel (Royale Bintang, The Curve, Mutiara Damansara) in the middle of our stay .. what a comparison! The service at Boulevard Hotel was really much better in terms of breakfast spread, room service, bell service and even housekeeping (they went all out to pack our shopping for us for easy carriage on flight) and the access to pubic transportation was incomparable (taxis lined up at all times of the day, or if not, the hotel can easily get you one and there is also access to the train service run by KTM through the Midvalley mall). There are many restaurants around Boulevard hotel with a huge variety of food (Indian vegetarian, Chinese, Western, Malay, Peranakan, Thai).

We noticed that there are more websites now advertising this property however we booked through the Hotel Website-- and paid around USD 70 per night (good value for money for KL hotel of this standard!).

Would definitely stay here again in future.

    Would go back again

    from LifeGoals

Boulevard Hotel is conveniently connected to one of the biggest shopping mall in KL (Midvalley). It's a new hotel with new fixtures. The staffs are friendly and tentative (example: when called for extra towels, they brought it up right away).

Minor issues: They do not tidy up the rooms daily; toilet clots up easily... hmmm..

Nonetheless, I would still go back to this hotel if I go to KL in the near future.

Great Hotel, Good Value for Money

    from RWong

I always stay in this hotel for my business trip in KL. Very convenience and centralized. Also it attached to Mid Valley Shopping Mall, you can get whatever you need in one place. We even had our corp function there, and the staff are very helpful.

Great Hotel at a good price!

    from ysouk

The hotel may not be near to the shopping district (Bukit Bintang) or KLCC, it is convinently located beside a train station. Just take the train to KL Sentral, you can transfer to another train to reach Bukit Bintang or KLCC (The journey will take 20-30 mins including waiting time).

The breakfast was good and the dining area was not crowded. The room was neat and tidy but the room service was only average.

It is almost impossible to book a hotel of this standard at this price, RM185, for a standard room without breakfast or RM225, for a standard room with breakfast.

Just tell the cab driver that you are going to Mid-Valley, this should lower their expectations and not charge you too much. A typical ride should be around (RM5-10), lower if the cab driver uses the meter but most rusually efuse to charge by the meter.

The hotel is located beside the Mid-Valley Plaza, a nice shopping mall. You can also catch a late movie and walk back to the hotel.

The hotel is also near Bangsar (a short cab ride away), which have nice restaurants and a night market.

    Enjoyable stay - great location!

    from BBGSinMarin

My family and I (2 adults and 2 kids) spent 3 nights and 4 days at the Boulevard. We felt it was good value for the money. The breakfast buffet was pretty good and the rooms were clean. The proximity to public transportation and shopping and restaurants was excellent. The only downside was the parking (for all my relatives who came to visit) which was awful.

    Nice Room, but Terrible concierge

    from Proboscis

Check in was terrible. We had to bring all our luggage from the car to within a few steps of the checking counter ourselves (this included baby stroller, bags etc.). They just provided a trolley at the door for us to fill ourselves. There was no sign or anything, so it was only because I was sick of waiting and had to get our son inside that I loaded everything myself. Seems to be short staffed or something.

Actual check in was swift and door cards issued quickly.

Room was neat tidy, and up to standard.

Once in the room we requested a cot and some extra pillows. These arrived straight away - good service there.

Breakfast was good, large variety, plenty of space.

On Checkout, managed to get someone to bring luggage to taxi, but concierge was unmanned, so could not post letter as planned.

Overall good, but reception needs work. Location is great for Mid Valley and shopping is a breeze. Mid valley even had prams that could be borrowed for the day!

    Value for Money

    from anonymous

Check into the hotel for a 3D/2N KL getaway. Hotel was new with very modern design. Booked a Superior Room with pool view at the promotional price of RM210 a night. Except for the view of a construction that was on-going (one of their new apartment) just across the pool which was rather small with a 1.2m depth with an even smaller kids pool, I have no complaints whatsoever. Breakfast was a scrumptious affair. It was an all-you-can-eat buffet with a blend of the east and the west. Including a good selection of fruits and cereals plus two types of juices and exspresso/tea to boot, it was a breakfast buffet that far surpasses the expectation! The hotel is connected to one of KL's largest mall - the MIdvalley Megamall so getting other types of necessities was not a problem. The hotel is ard 20-30mins ride away from KLCC so getting to KL City Centre would cost around RM10-15 by cab. The hotel provides a complimentary copy of The Star - Malaysia's premier paper. Service was good. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Overall, I would rate the hotel 4 out of 5 stars . It is truly a hotel worth staying.

Nice hotel. but beware of internet bookings

    from Tequila888

I booked online at their website (http://www.blvhotel.com) for a weekend for a Superior room about a month in advance. When my credit card statement arrived about a week before my stay, I had found I had been charged twice. So I called them up to get some insight into this and it turned out the website had double-booked me.

I asked for a refund (as I had obviously only booked 1 room and the website must have been screwed-up at the time) but they refused to give me a refund! After much complaining to the reservations manager, she finally agreed to give me my refund, but still did not want to accept responsibility for their mistake. She said it will take 2 weeks for my refund to clear so I'm still waiting. I was annoyed at their behaviour and attitude over this mishap.

During my stay though, I found the staff quite friendly and the rooms are very nice, clean, comfortable and affordable (I paid MYR160 per nite). Its also a great location - above the largest shopping mall in Malaysia. So there is plenty to see, shop, and eat (I recommend Chillis for their burgers, and Dragon-i for their Shanghai dumplings). There are also complimentary shuttles to the Bangsar LRT (monorail) station. Bangsar is also another area close-by which is famous for its pubs, bars, lounges and restaurants.

Overall, despite the double-bookin fiasco, I would stay here again on my next trip. But I would be extra careful about booking on their website!

    New very promising hotel

    from anonymous

The Boulevard is brand new, opened in October 2005. I paid only 77$, conference rate, and got an upgrade to a suite. That helped a lot for my appreciation of course. A very big room, very well decorated, classy furniture, leather coach, plenty of desk space to work, flat screen TV, tasteful lighting, beautiful paintings, complimentary mineral water. Spectacular view. Big bathroom with all you can wish. Complimentary broad band WIFI internet in the room. Comportable king size bed. Service is in start up phase, ranges from slow to super quick depending on the staff you contact. Good fitness, beautiful roof top swimming pool at the 9th floor, with separate pool for children. Unfortunately herbal spa complex on 8th floor "opening soon". Great breakfast with virtually all one could wish. Location in the middle of the biggest shopping mall of KL. Not too far from KL Sentral station and parks. Surrounded by motorways, so no way of going for a stroll. Airport 50 minutes away by taxi, depending on traffic (can be as long as 90 minutes). Helpful concierge. I had a good time there, ambiance will develop over time. Currently a bit cold due to newness.
