... ride in as the countryside is just beautiful.

We met Bill (Rose's husband) and the four of us dined in the MDR for lunch, then headed upstairs to have a beer.

The rest of the day and evening was spent lounging around. We did catch up with Bill and Rose in the Avenue Saloon for a drink after dinner.

Tomorrow will be a sea day, good day to get caught up on odds and ends.

short walk to the old crater rim where you could look out over the lava plain
to the cone of the current active volcano which is Piton De Fournaise. It was a
5 hour walk up to the edge of the current crater so we decided just to walk to
the edge of the drop down to the old crater. What an amazing unique experience!
After leaving the volcano we continued across the island centre to the west

... a large hotel complex. Archbishop Macarios had a house while he was in exile on Mahe. As our driver had spent most of his life there and it is such a small place he seemed to know every second person we passed particularly near his village. The scenery on the west coast was magic with coral lagoons lined with palm trees and small villages backed by steep hills. We had a swim at a beach with very beautiful clear warm water and stopped at several others for photos. We then ...
