... a golf course on the far side with a large fence, and a lot of thorn bushes, so we had to walk along to the lighthouse, where we bought a much-appreciated mango smoothie. A local told us there was a path, and to go through the restaurant, which we did, then down a large flight of steps we had seen earlier from the main road. The steps ended at another fence, with a thornbush scrub beyond. We found a gap in the fence, but no apparent way through the thorn ...

Martha’s is only 10 minutes drive from Soufriere at the base of the Pitons with glimpses of the Caribbean - quite a dramatic setting. It looks like (in fact I think it is) someone’s house with half a dozen tables on a concrete slab that may originally have been the car port, and a little bar at the back. I arrived at noon and the place was empty, but they were set up to receive a couple of busloads of tourists from the cruise ships so I arrived at ...

After a bit of a discussion, we told him he wasn’t getting any more and so he left. We then ...

... drove. Back at Marigot in time to get ready for the Anse La Raye Fish Fry.

We took a quick taxi ride to the Fish Fry. The Fish Fry occurs every Friday night when they close down some of the streets, allow folks to cook their fish and sell it to locals & tourists. In addition they have a DJ playing and some steel drums. It was a nice way to end the week's vacation. Back to the hotel to pack and prepare for the journey home.

This has been a very busy day and an early start on our way to Soufriere. This trip takes about 90 min. doing about 60 k an hour. There are so many twists and turns on a road you can just barely pass 2 cars. Very beautiful drive into the rainforest but the driver can't take his eyes off the road. Some of the turns are called hairpin turns which are exactly shaped like the top of a hairpin. Certainly not a ...
