... We met a couple from Texas and lunched with them at the brewery. We spent some time wandering the little alleyways and backstreets to see the less touristy parts of this beautiful old city. Dinner near the town center consisted of Belgian shrimp croquettes, Belgian steak, rack of lamb, a French merlot, and coffee with a waffle with ice cream and strawberries. ... The muscles are served in an enormous cooking pot and apparently you're supposed to put the empties in the lid, which I did, for a while. Eventually I just started picking the muscles out of the shells and leaving them in the pot. This confused my waitress , who thought I didn't like them or something.
