In 1915, over 5,000 Belgians fled to France for safety from the Germans. A "double" is dark beer with about 7% alcohol, a "triple" has about 9%, Barb had a light beer and I went for the home run!

... and atmosphere of the place was lovely. There were lots of school children and really just everyone riding bikes along the cobble stone streets. I climbed up the bell tower when the fog had cleared up a bit. The view was really lovely. I got a delicious hot chocolate along the short walk to the town hall. It is still in use today and has a lot of history, as bruge used to be the main trading port and centre if Belgium and there were many changes ...

Off out on more walking adventures. Saw on yesterdays bus trip 3 large real windmills and was keen to find them again. Trusty map we found them lovely things blowing in breeze also found a wedding party and a crowd of people doing sword fighting. Proper thing all dress up and very formal crowd watching. Saturday sport in Brugge no doubt. Wondered back through little streets pleased with ourselves at not even getting lost .Had picnic lunch at canal side then more wandering..Home ...
