... and the sappy mess they were leaving all around it. Despite his attempts to thwart them with soapy water, they had multiplied exponentially upon our arrival. Bob unpacked, while Mac and I played exterminator and ultimately plant killer. I should have taken a pic of Mac, goggled, gloved and hooded as he carted it out onto the back deck to its unfortunate death. ... There were great shrieks when a lion ran at them. While we were near the lions, the guide turned off the light and we sat and listened. Snarls, growls, tearing sounds filled the night. It was unnerving realizing we were so close to lions in an open vehicle! The next morning we went by the same site and there was nothing left.
