... I've done too much of that lately.
And so, I'm not deciding until the morning when I'm ready to leave and since I just wrote an entry on faith I won't be planning my trip and will be just "winging" the stops. The people in my life will have to have faith as I'm not planning on updating my status until I get to Winnipeg sometime in the next 10 days.
So, for the next 10 or so days I'll be somewhere in North America.
... to the members of the wedding party and follow wedding guests.
The reception took place under a tent right next to the 400 year old tree. The tent was beautifully decorated and as the night wore on the tent glowed with the help of the hundreds of votive candles scattered in decorative bags on the numerous guest tables. Everything was just right: from the food to the speeches to the people losing all self conciousness on the dance floor!
... 8211; the badlands. The name badlands comes from the voyageurs who transported furs and goods across the country in the 18th and 19th century. When they got to this barren, dry, inhospitable area, they called it "mauvais terre," bad land. The name stuck.
The transition from farmland to badlands was surreal. It was like being on a different planet, one surrounded by red rocks and sandstone sculptures in all shapes and forms ...
... but that wasn't destined to happen.
It was quite cold on this Victoria Day weekend, so I dressed up in as many clothes as possible and just took off. It was easy to get the hang of driving it again, so that's a good thing.
I drove all the way back to Ottawa on Hwy 7, which is a beautiful drive, but brutally slow. Not a problem, except I got ridiculously lost for about an hour near a place called Odessa. Poor me.

We all got a really nice sleep last night and then we began the trek back home. We stopped in at Bar Harbour, had breakfast at Tapley's (I do not recommend the corned beef hash), and then hightailed it back to Canada. It was raining the entire time. I couldn't believe it, but Andy drove the WHOLE way back. We tried to find Keith's favourite cereal that they only have in the U.S., but we couldn't. We ...
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada starlagurl... Later that day my little sister's boyfriend came over for dinner. It's nice to see her happy and I like Warren so it's all good. After dinner watched the UFC at Marty's and came home relatively early. The next day mom prepped a great party in which I was able to see many friends. It's baby fever here. I held Danny's baby which was cool. I was nervous about it at first but Danny gave me some paternal advice and I was fine. The day was chill, a ...
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada morpheous... it, but he pretty much lives there!) We decided to go down to Hull to get beer, because, honestly, the French-Canadians either dont grasp the concept of charging more than a dollar for a beer. Pretty much any beer you can think of is a dollar or less a beer. Its wild. We went back to Ottawa (its crazy to cross provinces 4 times in a day) saw his sister for a bit, then headed back to Hull to go for supper. There was this ...
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada dhrycun... more for last minute travel.......) and many other niceties. Most of it is done (we haven't decided on the flight issue yet) and now it's just the packing, wrapping things up at work and saying our good-byes to family, friends, colleagues and neighbours before we hit the road. Some friends and family members have indicated they may try and connect with us in India, so we're looking forward to seeing familiar faces during our journey.
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada kalsi_kaur... to Carp way too early for lunch, and I knew that the Diefenbunker was just down the street from Damita's house, so I stopped in there. It happened to be "Doors Open Ottawa", so the top level was free. I went in to check it out and I thought it was pretty cool, so I shelled out the $13 to see the other three floors and take a guided tour. I enjoyed the sixties decor, and I liked stepping back in time, imagining what it would be like to live and work at the bunker, but it ended up ...
