We then came across a pair of giant ringed kingfisher. we think they must have a nest in the area by the sounds they were making and the fact they were staying close to where we saw them. We were more sad to leave the Osa Peninsula than any other place so far. The sheer joy of knowing that our next stop would include the convergence of my entire family for the holidays made it much easier to tear ourselves away, with a promise that we would definitely return someday.

... brunch caused me to wake up at four with the howler monkey alarm clock and start scribbling down ideas in my journal. Having a craving for Chinese food I decided a savoury veggie fried rice with omelette strips and an accompanying tropical fruit salad. Simple but delicious - I provided the group a meal to last the day and further supported my new skills on the stove, ditching the recipe book, simply cooking with the senses.
