... end of the day, which was 5 pm. I was still energetic, so visited the Mexico Verde tent outdoors, to scale one of Mexico's tallest mobile climbing wall.

Tonight there was to be another cocktail party in the grounds of a museum but no dinner. So I picked up my dinner at Carl's Jr. And then spent the time on Skype with family, packing and doing work (having been away from office for 2 weeks). Heard the cocktail venue was very hot, something I dread.

I think I must have difficulty adjusting to Mexican time because again, I was one of the handful at the auditorium for the opening address 5 minutes before it was scheduled to commence. It turned out things were only 20-30 minutes late in the end. As usual there were long speeches by VIPs, and then a 2-hour one by Mexico's most decorated mountaineer, Carlos, who had taken to paragliding across Mexico as a new challenge. There ...

... partly because water was not provided for in these buses, and for some they needed something stronger.

It was past 8pm when we pulled into the very packed driveway of the Galeria Plaza Hotel. Then another long wait at check-in as everyone seemed to arrive at the same time. There was a welcome cocktail at the hotel bar, but no more meal for the day. Apparently, we already had ours at 2 odd times today - brunch at 9.30 am and lunch/dinner at 3.00 ...

I got to see what Veracruz looks like from my room balcony on the 5th floor. I could see a bit of the Gulf of Mexico, albeit hazy. The city looked fairly flat and homogeneous without prominent high rise buildings, perhaps by design. But the view was largely dominated by the sprawling shopping complex and World Trade Centre below. It was Sunday, and the timing and wifi signal were good for a Skype call home to let them see my sleepy look, the hazy sea view.
