Historical Traveler Reviews of Bosmans Hotel Vancouver
Good location, free parking
from Anika43
Because our 'regular' hotel (Century Plaza) was fully booked, we revisited our 'old' favorite, the Bosman. It is pretty much ok if you're looking for an inexpensive motel and not plan to spent much time in your room anyway.
In the middle of downtown Vancouver, within walking distance to shopping, Gastown, Robsonstreet AND a brandnew multiplex movietheater the location is perfect. Parking is free, all though I expect the parkinglot fills up fast during highseason.
The rooms are adequate but not very large. Request a room facing the parkinglot if you want it a little bit quieter .. All rooms do have (rather noisy) aircondintioners. Unfortunately, there isn't an in-room coffee-maker and you're supplied with just the basic amount of towels, no frills there .. They do have a tiny little pool in summerseason. Reception-staff could be a little friendlier .. A
There is a (breakfast)restaurant on the premises but it's not affiliated with the motel. Don't go there because the food is lousy and the coffee is worse!
Not bad for short stay

We stayed at the OceanSide suite Hotel, for one night. due to a mix-up we only had one night there so they moved us to the Bosman Hotel about 5 blocks away. Much nicer and it had an elevator. Oceanside is more like a local residential hotel. One I would not reccomend, but the price is right for this expensive city. whatever you do, make sure you have a full tank of gas before you cross the border. Gas in Canada is very expensive, like over $ 3/gal.
Cheap, cheerful and friendly
from Ceinwen
We stayed here for 1 night in September 2004. We booked over the phone and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The hotel is pretty basic, functional and clean which is what we were after. The room was clean and comfortable but it was at the front of the building which was a bit noisy when the window was open, but hey, it's in the middle of the city so what can you expect! The front desk staff were great and helped us with directions, maps and places to go. It was very central and perfect for exploring the city. We really liked the no frills friendly feel of the place, but I can imagine it may not be for everyone. We would happily stay there again.
Excellent

Just what I wanted -- a few blocks from downtown, still walking distance (although you got to like walking) from Chinatown and Stanley Park. Hotel itself doesn't have a ton of amenities, but it is inexpensive and very well located. Not sure what to say about the decor -- the rooms were clean, and over the 6 nights I stayed there the staff was friendly and helpful. I plan on staying there next time I'm in town...
Good place but not a best
from gabelou75
we stay 2 weeks in this place. first you can have a quiet room if you ask a the lobby ( it s impossible to sleep in the room front of the street ...).
this hotel have a good location .
The problem is about the reservation on expedia, because a lot of think promise in the site is not real or through : two example there s no free pass for gym at all !!!( for us it was an important thing to choose this hotel on expedia) second problem no acces internet public or in room..
In fact an hotel to stay 1 or 2 days not more.
Good Location - Standard Motor Inn Accommodation
from us2000
We stayed at Bosmans for 2 nights during mid September 2004.
Bosmans is excellently located in Howe Street in Central downtown Vancouver. We found the reception staff polite and extremely helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, although the air conditioner was noisy and wasn't too powerful, and our room got quite warm/hot during the day while we were out sightseeing.
There is off street parking for hotel guests, which many of the rooms overlook, but we did notice that a few locals used the car park for themselves whilst visiting the nearby clubs one Saturday night. Not to mentioned the near fight when two of these locals clashed in the car park in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It is a short walk to such Vancouver attractions such as Robson Street for shopping and a little further to Gastown. There is a trolley stop a couple of minutes down the street for those that decide to get around in either the trolley or double decker bus.
All in all, we would definitely stay here again if the price was right (we got ours through a hotels dot com type site), due to its excellent location.
My girlfriend and I disagree
from kevinda
This place has a distinct 1950's feel about it, which I thought was very cool. My girlfriend thought it was a bit seedy. The frontdesk was cheerfully casual ("This is a cheap operation you know" when asked about breakfast). Our room was a good size and clean, though we met a couple who had to change rooms because the maids had stripped their bed and gone home without remaking it. The pool is unusable, being sandwiched between the main road and a dark looking bar. I thought the location was great, within walking distance of both the high (shops) and low (bars) spots of downtown (my girlfriend thought it a bit too close to the low bits)
I would definately stay here again (if I was single)
Best deal in town
from A TripAdvisor Member
I've stayed at Bosmans more than a dozen times in the past and I can highly recommend it. It's simply put the best deal available in Vancouver. The rooms are very clean and the service is exceptional. The Sidebar is highly recommended as well. A true home away from home.
Friendly, kind service at the Bosman's.

I would like you to know that your friendly, kind service is very much appreciated. I made a reservation for one of our community members on behalf of the Kitasoo Band Council and "Peter" was so understanding and helpful. Special arrangements had to be made for payment and Peter was so open to that. This service means so much to me as a Kitasoo Band Coucillor and the Health Director for Kitasoo. Thank you again.

Brilliant Bosman's!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
We have stayed at Bosman's twice. We had a very pleasant stay on both occasions. We have spoken to them by telephone from the UK and the staff were very helpful and polite. Upon arrival we were greeted with good grace: the staff knew that we had just arrived from the UK and helped us to our room. Bosman's is clean, friendly, well-organised and we felt at home. The pool is small but a welcome addition in the middle of a city. The breakfasts are sensational (you pay extra but they are good value). We had our son with us and he was made to feel very welcome. The rooms are compact but pleasant, and there is a bus/tram stop just around the corner. Also, there is a pharmacy, an excellent restaurant (Oliver's). Downtown Vancouver is easily walkable and there are shops nearby where you can get essentials such as groceries or toiletries. We have no heistation in recommending Bosman's (although if everyone goes it will get full and we may not be able to get a room!!)
