OK, so I'm at my host's house in Vienna. Took the bus at 10:30am, as I'm sure I stated earlier, and after the change in Brno (Czech), Got to Vienna about an hour or so ago.<br><br>I tried to help Erin, a friend from my TEFL course in Prague, to find the bus station, since apparently she's going right back to Prague tomorrow night, but we didn't have much luck. So tomorrow we'll try to meet up around 10am and maybe do some sightseeing.<br><br>After we ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria christianbjork... with cars, being the weekend the trucks aren’t allowed on the highways, only those with perishables and fuel. It would be hectic if they were on the road too.<br><br>We did several store stops today. One to get lunch stuff, but it was in a mall type area so we looked through several stores. Then we went into a Media Mart to find a microphone for the lap top, the one we had doesn’t seem to be working. We find the campground and ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria dancejill... a small wooded area and pitched our tent. Lots of rain and we were incredibly hot in our tent. Chrissy has been finding these tiny ticks on her. I believe I was told at some point that those are the kind that can carry limes disease but who knows. Chrissy is now afraid of losing a limb every time she feels funny.
Vienna, Vienna, Austria randyandchrissy... day was very full. SATURDAY Saturday morning we had free time. Marissa and I decided to go see the Vienna Lippizans. These are the white horses which are known all around the world. When I have time I'll take the pictures off my camera and post them. I really really wanted to go see these horses when they came to Cedar Rapids (this is when I was a little girl). It was really expensive though, so we didn't go. Here you can go watch their practices for only 6 ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria alina-beth... of water and went to sleep. This morning I woke up and got in contact with a really nice Australian couple I had met back in Prague. They were still in town so we agreed to spend the day together. They had already toured the streets and offered to show me some of the spots. I saw some beautiful buildings and museums. It's very gorgeous here in Vienna and there are pretty parks everywhere. So we just sat and ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria jacoba... of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. His assassination in Sarajevo precipated World War I. On the way to the museum I walked through the Belvedere, actually two palaces - Lower Belvedere and Upper Belvedere - owned by Prince Eugene of Savoy. He helped save Vienna from the Turks in the 1600s and became a counselor to three emperors. On Friday I decided to go with a complete change of pace, so I took the U-Bahn to UNO City (Vienna International Center/United Nations Headquarters in ...
Vienna, Austria oyvindsandve... we had lunch. After lots of photos we came back down the mountain much faster than we went up it, but with sorer legs. By the time we arrived back in the city it was almost time for tea and we found a little Austrian restaurant and ordered the set menu of soup and a main. While we were waiting for our meals there was this loud racket... banging and crashing. We were a bit puzzled until we worked out ...
Vienna, Austria johnnyg... you pay her before you go in, different, but worth the cost of .52 euros for a clean bathroom,I guess. The hostel I had tried to book in Vienna had declined our reservation but told us to check back when we arrived in town. So after feeding the pay phone a few euros (and not getting any change) we were told to come on over and get on the waiting list so we got on the tram. Once there, we had to wait in the lobby with several other people for ...
Vienna, Austria kellyfoxAfter 10am, we reached the border between Hungary and Austria, of which there were really 2 border crossings. One leaving Hungary, where a uniformed man came on the bus and stamped our passports, which took a whole 7 minutes. It probably helped that we were the only ones going through. The other border was when entering Austria which took only one minute! We must have given Tunde a look when she got back on the bus, like "how did you manage that ...
