... t go after that). All was fixed by a gelato in the main square though :)

Then spent a week in central Florence with the most fab view ever, right over the ponte vecchio. Saw some of my favorite sights in Florence, took Jason to get a haircut, ate a ton of pizzas and good food, and all and all had a fab time in Florence.

Have been passing the time giving Jason Italian lessons and he's doing ...
Verona, Veneto, Italy jamieandjason... I was going to do once I got there. I glanced at the train departure board, then headed off in the general direction I believed the lake to be. My instincts turned out to be right, and the ceter was so beautiful. There were some ferries that I thought might be fun to take on a tour, but I guess they were just for going to other towns around the lake, so instead I just wandered around Desenzano. I thought it might be weird to be by myself ...
Desenzano Del Garda, Lombardy, Italy alliemarie... caught a vaporetta which is just like a ferry down the Grand Canal, under Ponte de Rialto to Piazza San Marco where the markets selling tourist stuff were right where we got off. Katelyn was impressed with the Carnivale masks which were pretty impressive and not really that expensive (probably made in Asia). St Mark’s Square was flooded right in front of the cathedral and they had a narrow timber walkway for people to ...
Verona, Veneto, Italy kiama_on_tour... summer. Katelyn thought that there must have been a concert the night before as there were cigarette butts everywhere and some rubbish behind seats, but we had to remind her that we weren’t in Switzerland anymore. It would have been great to see a concert there.

We moved on to the Castelvecchio which is a castle or home to a couple of the noble families of Verona but is now a very important art gallery with religious paintings which always had some form of ...
Verona, Veneto, Italy kiama_on_tourIt was still raining so we got a taxi to the train station as we were heading to Verona in Italy. A funny thing happened at the station- we were in the supermarket there when the security thing beeped as someone went out of the shop- we looked and it was a nun leaving the shop- the shoppers all were smiling. As the trained climbed across Brenner Pass, the rain had turn to snow but as we got into Italy the weather cleared ...
Verona, Veneto, Italy kiama_on_tour... keep up the espresso lifestyle, but if I can, watch out world. I will be the next Picasso. Although I can't paint. Well. I'll be the next something.

I don't have major news to report. It's sad when the 'same ol, same ol' is "I had one of the best pizzas of my life, I went to one of the most fascinating wine bars of my life, I wandered around and was as happy as I've been in my life..." It starts getting old to hear, I'm sure. But to ...
Verona, Veneto, Italy josiezim... But I've been drying everything out on the line outside. I don't think I've ever really done that before. It's kind of fun. Again, clearly still honeymooning. But this little taste of domestic life in the midst of my exploring has been just what the doctor ordered. Then on Friday I head to Venice, Saturday is the cruise and then a week of floating around the Greek Isles. I would have to say that life is pretty darn good.
Verona, Veneto, Italy josiezim... we were used to as kids of a previous generation, but certainly not now! It was great to see too, though, in this home of so many beautiful/stylish people, that all ages and shapes clearly felt toootally at home here in their bathers, with the great majority furthermore letting it all hang out in bikinis quite unashamedly (though as Margie said perhaps a few owed it to others not to!!). This in quite stark contrast to home, where most are faaar ...
Verona, Veneto, Italy chalmersfamily... the castle tower... Bus to Verona at 1:00 PM... Visited Juliet's balcony and rubbed the statue for good luck... Checked into hotel in Venice around 7:00 PM... Dinner at 8:00 PM... End Day Eighteen. Drinks imbibed on Day Eighteen: Wine: Half Carafe of Italian white wine
Verona, Italy johnnyrader... shopping hours was unbelievable. Our window opened up to this street and I can honestly say that I have never heard so many screaming kids in one place in my life. My theory is that parents were too busy shopping and kids were bored. My advice, (which I almost yelled out the window), leave them at home if you plan to shop! Unfortunately, because of his ear problem, Chad was not as happy being out touring all day. So, he stayed in the room and relaxed while I ...
