We are visiting the UK and Norway at the end of May and first part of June in 2010. I have never been to Europe and am very excited about it.
Our daughter has been attending Kingston University this past year so we are going to see her, travel and pack her up to come home. We have family in Stavanger so we don't need hotels and ...
... without it but I guess a lot of people will have lots of memories of their time there.
I had thought of going to Raith Rovers game but changed my mind the day before traveling - good job I did - the Raith match was cancelled!
Anyway - enjoyed the game. Ended 2-0 to Alloa who now move into the promotion contention in Scottish League two.
... itself was such a shock. It was like a combination of London and Vienna. Such gorgeous old buildings, I couldn't wait to explore..
..Meet up with some of my friend's mates in the station, aaaand then we end up in the St. James shopping mall thingy for an hour and a half. Now unlike most teenage girls - I. Hate. Shopping. Well at least just going around staring at clothes. Seriously, what is the point? My adventure ...
... exactly the same, but I wont.
We boarded a purpose built boat and did
the real touristy thing along with a couple of bus loads of Danes and
Norwegians. The boat motors into the gondola which is filled with
water. Its tied off to the side and a ramp is closed behind it then
then wheel rotates on a central axle and 4 minutes later you have
been hoisted 35 metres into the air. After a short cruise through
the new tunnel the boat returns via the Wheel ...
... town would be overflowing with people, but it wasn’t. We walked across the swing-bridge that spans the canal connecting Loch Ness to Loch Lochy (lake lakey?), stopping to snap a photo of the large Nessie-shaped topiary next to the canal, and to the kiosk where they were selling the tickets for the Royal Scot. Chris had advised us to tell the clerk we were with Highland Explorer for a discount. He was standing right behind the clerk as we bought our tickets so he winked at me ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom jonesinmybones... this point Wallace was conscious - it was when they removed his heart - when he died. Wallace was also revered in these parts due to the never say die attitude he had on the battlefield. Wallace seemed to be a man for the people - which the Nobles hated and therefore gave him up. Bruce was in it for Bruce - our Bus Driver said. Loch Ness was cool - the children and I touched the water and boy is it cold. We played about ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom masonsineuropeSep 22nd 2007 to Sep 24th Sep 2007 - Edinburgh, Scotland As Andrea didn't have tickets for the Scotland game, only Fraser went up to Edinburgh to see the All Blacks play Scotland where he caught up with an old work colleague of his (Anna). After a long train trip up from London, I filled up on Haggis and Whisky, and we headed out into the New Town where we found somewhere to eat, drink and watch one of the pool games ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom skip-ange... the camera out at that moment to take my own picture of the Castle. Later today I will take and upload my own pictures. Hotel room was not ready....very nice front desk clerk said nobody wants to leave this morning. Normal checkout time is noon, and all guests are taking advantage of it today...housekeeping will be way backed up. So, they directed me down the street to the Point Hotel where they have free wireless access. I am sitting in the bar creating this blog and ...
Edinburgh, United Kingdom kmidgette... wanna take pics every five steps you take. i've thus done lots of walking and picture taking, and did some more relaxing stuff today, like watch the world cup friendly tune-up match between korea and ghana (ghana won 3-1). tonight we'll get treated to a ghost hunter excursion, into the vaults and haunted places around town ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom domhnall... have done something productive though, that being that I've got myself a job behind the bar of a hip and trendy joint just down the road from where I'm currently staying. I've done two shifts there so far and it seems like a pretty cool place, all the staff are friendly and the drinks list is quite daunting espescially coming from the good ol' yachty where about the most exciting drink you ...
