... hanging on TIGHTLY. After jumping off at the top (once again, you literally jump out of the cage) I photographed Kent in his little cage. There was a group of small children in the basilica and it turned out they were there to rehearse for the bambino ceri race. We watched as they practiced lifting the ceri and then they had a rehearsal of the race around the courtyard. ... for St Ubado, one for St Giorgio and one for St Antonio - which are carried by three teams around the town and up the mountain to the Duomo. It looks like total madness - very Italian. ... sort of a question from the expectant way she (and the rest of the group) were looking at me. The jig was up, so I had to say 'sorry, but I really don't speak any Italian', which gave everyone a good laugh. She apologised and went back through the safety briefing in English, which included 'don't hang back to take photos as it is very easy to get lost'. The rest of the tour she explained a few bits and pieces in English to us, which was really nice of her.

... We were very impressed with the dedication to Rossi - there were numerous posters and other memorabilia to look at, menus with Rossi symbols, 46 chips on sale and even Kerrie's coffee came decorated with the famous 46. The only thing we couldn't find was a postcard to send!

... riding in - the streets are flat, wide and not cobblestones and the hills are close enough for good breaky rides. Of course there is the added advantages of proximity to Imola, Misano and Mugello all within a couple of hours ride for the Superbikes and MotoGps.

Pesaro is a beach town with our hotel only about 50m from the Adriatic Sea. According to the receptionist at the hotel, people stay here because it is cheaper than San Marino, which is about 60 minutes up ...
