    ... permission to leave!

    After a nice afternoon tea and some good "quatschen" or yackety-yak with him and his wife, it was time to leave. He was nice enough to drop me back to Darmstadt-Eberstadt station, where I caught the train back to Friedrichsfeld, which took 55 mins. Steffie was kind enough to pick me up and even made a family-size meat pie and a pavlova for Australia Day.

    ... from being bored out of our minds and spending the day in the hostel! Kim decided to see the Lake Shkodėr, while Jas and I decided to go to Albania and visit the city of Shkodėr on the other side of the lake. (I should mention here that I have seen the name of this city written as Skadar, Shkodra, Skoder, and Shkodėr; I'm sticking with the last one for the purpose of this post!)

    ... s like in a confined space at work? We have people do training and get certified for that! I was quite fortunate to not have a passenger in front of me recline their chair to the fullest extent. The crew have been very nice & interesting to talk too. I also met a lovely transplanted (now living in Seattle) German lady, travelling back home to see family We have 1 hour left of being jammed ...

    ... raw like sausage squish into the bush!
    On the list was a visit to Villa Hugel, home of the Krupp family who utilized the high coking coal to make steel at the start of the industrial revolution. But time was against us. The boys dodged another bullet!
    We had a 2 1/2 hour drive to our overnight stop in Frankfurt and had sent Morwenna a text to see if she would like to meet us. Long story short, we diverted to Mainz, had a delightful meal and stroll down the Rhine ...
