Banyan Temple - Hide N Seek

The wake up call comes very early and, surprisingly, we don't feel jet-lag. A Cambodian sunrise greets us as we board our early morning flight to Siem Reap (See-em Ree-yep). From Lauren: We left Phnom Penh at 4:30 in the morning on that tiny jet. From the plane window the sunrise looked like a scoop of orange sherbet ice cream on fire. The stewardess served us a breakfast snack box of tuna stuffed croissants with chili sauce, which was surprisingly delicious! Upon our arrival to Siem Reap, w...

Angkor Wat Temple - and Monks

The best preserved and most popular temple here is Angkor Wat. The largest religious monument in the world! Built 1113 to 1150 AD, this is the supreme masterpiece of Khmer architecture. The temple is protected by a moat, 570-feet wide and 4-miles long. The walkway used to cross this moat is brimming with distracted tourists... notice the lack of railings? That's a good 15-foot drop to the water my friend! Entry gate to temple complex. Angkor Temple's active Buddhist community. Bas-relief car...

Ta Prohm Temple - Just call me Lara Croft!

Our next stop is the 12th century Ta Prohm Temple. This temple quickly becomes a favorite A trail through the jungle leads us to where the temple waits. The air is muggy and filled with the sounds of birds whooping and squawking in protest of our being there. Ta Prohm has not been restored and is shrouded in gnarled banyan trees and fallen temple stones. Most people recognize this temple from the 2001 movie, 'Lara Croft, Tomb Raider' From Lauren: This temple was my personal favorite! By the ...

Cambodia

Arrive Mar. 25 After an early start in KL we took the hotel limo sraight out to the airport. About the same cost and no hassles about moving the bags onto trains and into cabs. The government has moved almost all its offices outside KL and set up a new city (Ottawa?) and closer to the airport. A one-hour flight and a four hour wait in Bankok then on to Phnom Penh. When going to Cambodia carry US cash. We knew this and tried to get some in the Bangkok airport. They woud only sell us baht (Thai...

Travellers with children should like this hotel

from LeeHanFamily
The room had a great view of the pool and our two young children loved it. The pool helped the children to relax after a whole day at the temple. We recommend this hotel to couples with young children.

In addition, the staff were really friendly.

Beyond Expectation

from cantiksekali
Excellent value for money. I booked two deluxe rooms through asiarooms but was upgraded to a suite as the hotel management could not get a connecting room for me. Both rooms are large and clean. The only exception was the lack of coffee/tea making facility. However, this was offset by two free bottles of water daily - you will need this as exploring Angkor can be a hot & humid expereince!

Breakfast was something to look forward to. Good combination of food offerred. All the staff, without exceptions are friendly and courteous. I also found out that the owner actually lives on the top floor of the hotel. It's good to know that this is one of the rare Cambodian-owned hotel. It's a bit far from town (a slow 5 minutes drive). Tthat's not a problem as most tourist would have hired a car or tuk-tuk dor the duration of their stay. Taxi driver recommended a hotel in town if you like to explore the sight & sound in the evening. I was contented with Borei. My aged parents was impressed, so I am a happy camper.

Wonderful

Absolutely the best hotel experience I've had. Despite my error at the airport Mr. Mutha greeted us with "fruit drink" in a flute. "Fruit drink" is the finest beverage known to human kind. Our 11 year old still pines for it. Rooms were spacious to the extreme as were the bathroom and balcony. Service was everywhere and in every way exceptional. Even my well traveled 70 year old parents rate it the best hotel of their lives.

Incredible value, accommodating staff

from travelfreek
Staff could not do enough for us, was always smiling and obviously takes pride in their jobs. Property and room beautiful and worth much more than the $65(USD) that we paid. Only criticism is that the food could have been better.

Great place, great value

This a hotel that is clearly tryin its best to make it to the top. The staff appears to be fully vested in making your stay perfect.

The rooms are well maintained and comfortable. Everything works!

The htotel entrance has this magnificent staircase and ceilings out of wood.

The breakfast is the only reason why I did not give it an excellent rating. The Food and Beverage Manager is well aware of their need to improve and has taken a personal interest in making it happen.

The pool is very nice and kept neat and clean.

I just returned from a trip to Siem Reap and I can honestly say that the Borei Angkor hotel has excellent service, extremely friendly staff, and wonderfully accomodating facilities. You will not be disappointed. Definitely recommended!

Very Nice Hotel in Siem Reap

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at the Borei Angkor in June 2005. The hotel is very nice; our room in the deluxe section was fine and the hotel overall was new and well maintained.

Staff were very attentive and friendly. A guy at the front desk was happy to arrange our tuk-tuk rental for 3 days to see the temples at Angkor Wat; and sure we paid 12 bucks a day which was 2 bucks over what we could have bargained for on the street - but then so what, we knew we had a decent driver and sure enough 'mr.lee' was a fine guy we were happy to have drive us around. The hotel has a nice pool area as well. Its not in downtown siem reap but a one dollar tuk tuk ride will get you there in 5-10 minutes. For the price (40 bucks a night for a deluxe room) its a good deal. Recommended.
