    ... polarized nation? After all, the Turks found a deeply fragmented Bulgarian empire when they got here in the late 14th century, and the most important Bulgarian revolutionary of the Revival period, Vasil Levski, was supposedly betrayed by one of his own countrymen.     Just testing our blog !!! We are now settled in our apartment and enjoying the peace and quiet that is when Ben and Hannah aren't jumping in the pool !! Because the weather has been very hot recently the pool is actually a balmy 28 degrees in full sun !!     ... peak in the Balkan. Both of the lodges where we stayed are above 1000m, permanently staffed and open all the year round. The first one, Hija Rai (Paradise Lodge) sleeps 100 people and sits beneath a waterfall coming down from the Botev peak.     Did this a couple of years ago on a road trip with my friend Pat, it was falling down then.....3 years later a bit more of it has fallen down!
