... the delightful township of Wengen which cannot be reached by car (like many alpine villages).

The walk is all downhill and in some parts the incline is quite steep. We then caught the train from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen, and when GR got off she wondered how she might make it back to the hotel! However, a hot chocolate helped (more Nurofen tonight) and last big walk for GR with hills!

... it was up another escalator to the Tourist Information office to purchase tickets. The first part of our trip (the boat trip) from Lucerne to Alpnachstad was free due to our First Class Eurail Passes. Cost was not bad considering yesterday's trip up Jungfrau.

... German...her recipe is safe with me, I had no clue what she was saying! Austria and Germany are somewhat more expensive than Canada, but Switzerland's national symbol should be a hose because the prices here are outrageous. Example $36 for two rum and cokes in a local pub! Everything is ridiculously overpriced; we don't know how the locals manage (unless that is, we tourists come in for a particularly strong hosing...Nah, that wouldn't happen, would ...

... shops in Switzerland closes at 1830 hrs and we were rushing to buy everything as it is our last day here. We bought our dinner at Bachmann, mainly sandwiches and salad. And mind you, the servings are really huge for a typical Asian.

Overall, Switzerland is really an expensive destination. A magnet souvenir costs about CHF 8 and a 500ml mineral water costs about CHF 3.50. The cold tap water is the best choice however and it's really really cold! The water ...

... this! We made reservations earlier in the day and headed over to the lift around 7p.

We get into a cute little restaurant where we are clearly the only English speakers, if not the only non-locals. Shortly after we sit down, we're served a salad and traditional tea that are both very good as the accordionist starts playing.
