... nieces shopping and buying wine and beer for the braai (barbecue) planned for the evening. I was conveniently left at a table at the Mugg and Bean in Menlyn and told to "drink coffee", while Adri and her niece Agatha went on a shopping expedition. This time I tried their filter coffee which was way better than having a cappuccino. I purchased 3G airtime while I was still at home, knowing that it will be needed here from the word go. Got hooked up to the internet, did my e-mails ...

Finally settled in at my new place and immediately loved the vibe of the people in my dorm. It's a one dorm hostel, with 10 bunks, so it's pretty small. We all just ended up going out and doing things together. There were 3 Germans, 3 Brits, 2 Americans (including me) and a Belgian. It always sounds like the start to a bad joke. I offered her money, which she refused and said she was just helping. I made her take it, to profuse bowing and thanking me. The cab driver, on the other hand, was more than happy to take my money. But I didn't care, as long as he drove me home. I finally made it back to my room, just before 3:00. What a long frustrating end to a great ...

... to four different view points. I went up the steep rocky path to the first one at 100 metres where there was a nice view. Malcolm continued on to the next three - the highest being at 262 above sea level or about 500 metres up a steep rocky gradient. I'll look at his photos. I went down to the beach for a swim but the water was too cloudy for snorkeling. We boarded the boat again via the long tail boats and had a nice buffet lunch then cruised to our next stop at ...

... the sea. My only experience prior to this was the 20 minute video I was told to watch the previous day. There was no opportunity to practice any of the basic breathing so I panicked, forgot everything and drank copious amounts of sea water. After a couple of attempts later I still didn't feel comfortable breathing underwater and decided to skip the rest of that dive. This whole experience was very traumatic for me so I do not remember everything clearly, but I ...
