I did it. Seven days on a silent meditation retreat in Ko Samui. And while my memory is still fresh I'd like to give you a rough summary about it.

20.09.12: Check-in day. I went to the pick-up place where they got us to the Dipabhavan Meditation Center. First we had an individual interview where they told us roughly what to expect and asked us if we were committed. Only then we were allowed to sign up. We found a really nice place to stay in The port town of Koh Pangan, Thong Sala.  Thong Sala itself seemed like a pretty boring and characterless town but the place that we were staying in was right on the beach and had a really nice pool.  Better still we were paying just £5 each for our room.  We were told that the room we had paid for had a drainage problem so after a few hours there they upgraded us to a new room which had air con, tv and hot water.  We ...
