It frreakin' SNOWED today. I was expecting a day of sunshine but I only got a 20 second preview of blue sky this morning outside of town on the way to Salzburg Zoo. Check out the first pic to see what I thought was the unveiling of the mountains I've been longing to see. But instead I got the beauty of snow for a few hours. It was only light, but so happy I got to see it (and it was the first snow of the season).

... from the lake to the quaint village of Berchesgaden, full of impossibly perfect picture-postcard buildings with shutters and carved wooden balconies, to find a gorgeous Advent Market underway spread along the connecting Market Square and Royal Square. This one had a real local feel to it, with lots of families out en-masse, greeting other families as they wandered around, and was very mellow and relaxed. There was a brass band playing ...

... get out at 6 am ( no problem as we have still our jet lag) and go skiing in Kitzbuehel together with our friends Dirk and Anette . A phantastic day and exactly the way of life we were dreaming of when we decided to go to Prien. When now also our NL friends would be closer the world would be perfect!! At 6 pm we met our local guide and had a walking tour of the city. It is much smaller than every other city we have seen so far. Our walking tour concluded at a functioning monastary in the city center that was built in 800 AD. There we had dinner at the monastary restaurant that had been a restaurant since 806! What an experience. ...
