    ... We stayed clear of the left lane for the most part and did remark that three hot machines blew by us(on each others tail) as if we were standing still and we were doing 130 kmh. Some things never change!!!

    As I write, we are enjoying a refreshment in our Hotel zum Muehle located on the Rhine River. A wonderful setting but not enough good light for pics when we arrived. Tomorrow after breakfast (our standard routine) will work much better. We have ...

    ... museum ...well, not Al...but I only wanted to go to the shop...our guide last time and this time said don't miss it and they were right. Nothing we can't get in the states but it's a local tradition and the chocolates are DELICIOUS!! nice...I have treats to share!!

    ... the city hall dating back to 1200 although it has been extended twice with different architectural style. It has been rebuilt after being extensively damaged by allied bombing in WWII. The highlight was the Cologne cathedral, which is the second tallest church in Germany, is a magnificent structure.     ... As it is used for so much as an "industrial trafficway", for example taking oil to Switzerland as they are a "landlocked country", the barges can't take a full load of fuel because of the water level. The river boats also are finding that there is not enough water in some places to sail and they have to arrange for buses to transport the tourists from one place to another... what a nightmare.
