Historical Traveler Reviews Bonita Beach Hotel Ocean City

Great vacation at the Bonita Hotel

    from

We made plans to go to Ocean City Maryland within two weeks of our vacation. I looked at many reviews to see which hotel had a good price range with a great atmosphere. There are many hotels that fit the criteria to choose from. What I had to do was find one that is kid frienly which means a hotel with a good pool and near the beach. For me and my husband we wanted something basically new and very clean and a great view. I read the reviews on the Bonitia Hotel and a lot of reviews were possitive and some reviews were not so nice. The ones that complained about the hotel was only about minimal things which didn't bother me. On the possitive reviews I was reading about how clean and new the hotel was with very nice personal. It was 1/2 block from the beach and had a fitness room which we used daily. It seemed like the hotel for us. I called and reserved the room. They sent me confimation within 2 to 3 minutes which l was impressed.

When we arrived on the 22 of July we were very happy to see that it was everything we new it would be. Very clean and new. The pool was very nice. The rooms were a good size with a full size refrigerator, sink and a microwave oven and a lot of cabinets. The carpet was new and clean. We had a private balcony and our oceanview was perfect. Anything we needed from the front desk we would call and they brought it up for us quickly. It was very quiet in our room. The beds are comfortable and we slept great. When our vacation was over our children who are 10 and 13 told us that this was the best vacation they ever had. Try the Bonita Hotel, you will love it. Have a great vacation....

    Ignorant staff

    from

The staff at this hotel are ignorant. They need to take the stick out of their a$$ and have beter customer service. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!!!!!!!!

    They need better housekeeping

    from

I liked the location of this hotel, but I had a problem with the housekeeping. When we got there they told us that our room was ready (they did allow us to check in early). Upon entering our room, we noticed that the trash cans were not emptied. There was a trash bag tied up under the kitchen sink that they did not remove. The floors were not vacuumed. The only thing they did during our stay was replace our towels. They did not fix the beds, change the sheets or vacuum the floors.

    Not worth the price!!

    from

I chose the hotel because their website made it sound like a very nice new hotel. I travel a lot and I at least expect to get my monies worth. I booked it for 6 nights and 4 1/2 days prior to arrival I needed to change the reservation to 4 nights due to a family scheduling problem. I called and they were not flexible whatsoever. All they did was refer to their 5 day cancellation policy, rudely I might add. I asked for the manager to call me, which she did not.

I chose to stay a hotel instead of a condo so that we would have a few small conveniences such as fresh linens, towels, coffee, etc. I was very disappointed to find out that they do not supply coffee for the rooms. Over $200 per night and no coffee?? I was told that usually when a hotel has a "kitchen", they do not supply coffee. You call a refrigerator and a microwave a kitchen? Most hotels have these now anyway and they are certainly NOT a kitchen. Most hotels at this price would have lotion in the bathrooms, this one did not.

Customer Service - terrible. They are not friendly at all. I would like to have seen one person other than the maid that smiles in that place. Speaking of housekeeping, they made the beds horribly. The a/c in the rooms was loud.

I just feel ripped off. I would have stayed at another hotel for a little more, or heck, a motel for lot less, if I had known all this. It really had the feel of a motel instead of a hotel. It seemed to be cheapy done, new but nothing special at all. The "sun deck" could use some umbrellas so you can at least read a book out there.

Overall it felt like a family run hotel that is hurting for money. They don't want to spend one extra penny to make the guests feel welcome. What about smiling and saying "Welcome to the Bonita Beach Hotel". Even calling for a wake up call felt like you were bothering them.

    Find another place to stay!

Lacked customer service, No frills, Not worth the price

    from

You can definitely find a nicer hotel at the beach at the rate they charge. The remarks mentioning how new this place is true, but I can buy a new Yugo... Does that make it the best car? As for the inconvenience of its location from the boardwalk and lack of customer service was a real disappointment.

It is located on ocean block, but furthest from the beach next to the road. As for the service my family paid premium rates for the entire weekend. They ran out of towels and they would not allow us to extend our check out for one hour without charging us half day rate.

Overall, if you want a mediocre hotel at a premium rate far from the boardwalk with no service or frills... This may be the place for you.

    Where's the clean?

    from

Even though there were rooms available at the Bonita Beach, we were assigned to a room on 2nd floor so we had to wait until our room was cleaned. I wish we had waited longer because the room wasn't clean. The tile floors were dirty and full of sand; the bathtub was stained with dirt; most of the silverware was missing in the kitchen; there was no dishtowel to wash the dishes and their was only one bar of soap. On our second day, my children were leaving the unit when the housekeeping staff were making their rounds so they only emptied the trash and replaced used towels. They never made the bed or cleaned the unit. When I complained to the management about the poor housekeeping, their response was "Oh well. It happens." The Bonita Beach, has a nice location and great shaded parking but having a clean room is important to me so I wouldn't recommend this property.

    Romance By The Sea

    from

We picked the hotel on a whim. It was new and there were no reviews on the hotel. When we arrived the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were great and the view was not bad. We arrived on a rainy and cold October afternoon. We were concerned, because OC is designed for outside fun. Well, all of our fears were put to rest. The pool was great and provided hours of fun. The near by resturants made us feel right a home. The area locals were friendly and helpful and gave us tons of ideas for indoor fun. The room was spacious and the lay out was perfect. The first day we didn't even leave the hotel. We even ordered in. The best part was that we never heard a car go by. There were no children running up and down the halls, and that allowed us to concentrate on US. The next day we ventured out to the beach and even though we had on hugh leather coats it was the most beautiful site. Later that day we embraced the sunset and each oth on our private balconly. We are planning our next trip here this coming September.

    Good for Girls' Weekend

    from

For a girls' weekend we stayed at the Bontia Beach Hotel in May of 2005. For the most part the hotel was pretty clean. Some minor problems, ie a used wet washcloth was left in the bathroom from the people before us that housekeeping did not pick up. The set-up of the room was nice with a full size refrigerator and a microwave. Access to the exercise room and the indoor pool 24/7 was a big plus. Suprising that the hotel does not have an outdoor pool for summer use. Seemed like parking could really be a problem in the crowded months. Hotel was built up and parking is underneath. Hard to negotiate around beams especially with large vehicles. Overall, a good hotel and a good time in Ocean City. Also, great restaurant across the street on the bay.

Wonderful place to stay with the family

    from

I stayed there for the first time last summer and it was wonderful and reasonably priced. Beautiful rooms and you don't have to cross the road to get to the beach. Also, we loved the indoor pool for the children. There is a light right at the hotel making getting in and out very easy.

    Simply awesome

    from

    awesome experience,

its the newest hotel in town and few steps from the beach. We, (my wife and 3 sons) stayed here in Mid May this year and we loved it. Especially the indoor pool thats open 24/7. And ofcourse....the private balconies.......efficient for smokers like me.

Thing i didnt like that much was their "one parking slot per room"......so I had to park my truck on the street behind the hotel....but it worked out well...cuz there are open perking spaces at the back of the hotel.

overall it was a good experience!! my "hard to satisfy kids" were also very satisfied! :)

Lewes - History by the Beach

... My pictures are all from Lewes, where I stopped for a few hours in the late afternoon on the way from Dover, rather than Rehoboth. Lewes is a historic coastal town on the Delaware Bay side of Cape Henlopen, the Cape that faces Cape May, NJ on the other side of the entrance to Delaware Bay. Maybe it’s because the waves aren’t as big at the beaches on the bay or something, but Lewes doesn’t have the crowds of the Atlantic beach ...

    Before the starting gun

10'x15'... the past 5 years, 2 bedrooms and 4 floors of our home is now crammed into a one cinder-block cell, the mail has been stopped (doubt I'll miss it) and tenants who will be kindly paying our mortgage for the next 12months are now moved in and we're officially "homeless".
Bethany Beach is where we'll be calling home for the next few weeks, until we jump out on the road at the end of July.

I could think of worse places to lay-low for awhile.
