Palolem - South Goa's Crescent Beach

Palolem was our second beach stop in Goa, not all that far south from Vagator and Old Goa since it's such a small state. The picture postcard palm-fringed crescent-shaped beach at Palolem is deservedly popular and lined with restaurants and guesthouses. So it's a much busier spot than Vagator and very popular with foreigners with Russians in particular abundance. The seafood is good if not cheap and the sunsets from the beach bars over Singapore Slings sensational.

... lively beach area. Unfortunately these were Indian bikes which means they had no gears or brakes so it was a rather unnerving journey - the trip back up hill nearly killed me lol. I also had a day out to Cabo de Rama - an old hill top fort but there is not much of it left now apart from amazing views over the surrounding coast. We continued up the coast to Varca for lunch, crossing the river on the local ferry on the way. ...

The flight only took 1hour which was great and we also got a free feed!  When we reached Goa we had a 45 minuet taxi ride too our hotel that was situated in a place called Calangute. The hotel was quite far out of town. We walked further down the road and headed for Baga then KV could show us where we'd be meeting for dinner later, after he'd showed us a few of us headed to the beach front for a few ...

What a lovely place this turned out to be. The huts are nestled in a grove of towering coconut palms. It is a two minute walk to get from our porch to the beautiful wide beach cove lined with lively bars and restaurants. There is plenty of space to find solitude, if desired.

      Journey to Palolem

... of the bus. We got four buses in total from Anjuna to Mapusa, Mapusa to Panjin, Panjin to Margaon and Margaon to Pallolem. The whole journey cost less than 1 each. Bargain! Panjin to Margaon was an express shuttle and the driver certainly thought so!! It has been the first time so far that we’ve thought the crazy overtaking etc. was getting dangerous and this guy drive his bus at full pelt no matter how tight the turns. Luckily ...
