... The following morning at the crack of 8 we left to sail the 30 miles to Kos. Richard helped us to get out of our berth but we still managed to get a rope round the rudder. However, this sorted itself out and, as we left Richard shouted “You’re on your own now” – cheeky sod.

The sail out of the spectacular entrance to Lakki Bay, through the tricky(ish) passage among the tiny Velona Isles was conducted with quite strong winds ...

Kos Town, Dodecanese, Greece gone2asia... someone's corporate logo splashed across it. I'm an old crank and I don't like being a walking advertising billboard. And have to pay for the experience. So I told Emin that the last cap cost me 5TL in the Edirne pazar. He took me back into the Milas pazar, found the proper area, and I got a solid black cap for 5TL.

Then we said our good-bye, and I caught a mini-bus for Bodrum to have an afternoon look around.

The next ...
Bodrum, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey oldroverWe were not all that impressed with Bodrum and actually were glad to spend the next day and a half in Turgatreis which we loved. We had a great picnic lunch on the beach and relaxed with our new friends Jim and Umit ...The only thing that was truly impressive was the billions of dollars of yachts in the harbour. One thing is to be sure and that is that the Turks take their bread very seriously! It has nothing at all to do with Bodrum but every ...
Bodrum, Turkey smyth... a waiting area that looks akin to the one at the DMV. It is always crowded and we can't figure it out (well, not beyond posting the cards anyway). We found some boat trip options for later in the summer, sailing out of Bodrum. They are a little cheaper (25YTL) than Gundogan, but not by much. That will be fun to do with my parents when they come. Since Bodrum is on the southern part of the peninsula, we will be in some different waters and may even see some different fish. We ...

Bodrum - Mugla, Turkey bluevoyage... I did the same thing in my inn. Since there was no one there, I couldn't ask for blankets or pillows or such things (my room was, shall I say, spartan to the maximum degree; as far as that could be while still remaining a bedroom!). Thankfully no doors were locked, but it appeared that the cleaning staff had gone for the season with the tourists. One room was just like mine but it had a pillow. Another room had a sheet. A third had a blanket. A fourth had a little night table and a ...
