At about 23:20 we can board the train, get the key to our sleeper and try and put the packs into the storage space over the door. One pack will go up but the other must sit on the floor. The day packs can go under the bottom bed out of the way. There is not that much room in the cabin but it is much bigger than the CNL cabins in Europe! Syd climbs …

After that unique experience, I got an hour 15 min in on the bike. Thank goodness I can read (though the book gets sweaty).
Our next stop was 12:30 to 13:30 in Sandnessjoen, a busy town on a Saturday afternoon. It is the center of trade and communication in this region. We also found the statue of the famous Petter Dass a poet and clergyman. A bit up the hill was a statue of a stolid ...

We had a very pleasant stay in this quiet family-run hotel while waiting to board the hurtigruten, Convenient location for the town, railway station and ferry. Excellent service and facilities. The breakfast selection was excellent and high quality. Much more character than a typical chain hotel.
