To Bodo - Day 11

At about 23:20 we can board the train, get the key to our sleeper and try and put the packs into the storage space over the door. One pack will go up but the other must sit on the floor. The day packs can go under the bottom bed out of the way. There is not that much room in the cabin but it is much bigger than the CNL cabins in Europe! Syd climbs …

... and a certificate noting that we had passed the Arctic Circle!
After that unique experience, I got an hour 15 min in on the bike. Thank goodness I can read (though the book gets sweaty).
Our next stop was 12:30 to 13:30 in Sandnessjoen, a busy town on a Saturday afternoon. It is the center of trade and communication in this region. We also found the statue of the famous Petter Dass a poet and clergyman. A bit up the hill was a statue of a stolid ...

... both their passages as Grandpa did not want to come. He spends most of his time in the bubbling jacuzzi, only leaving sporadically to visit the sauna and eat his meals. He is in love with a girl who has a boyfriend and while she flirts with Joe mercilessly over text message, has not shown any indication that she will leave him. He is trying to play it cool. I suggest that he just has a talk to her away from the silly games. He kicks himself, she has asked him round in the ...

... bought a special trollfjord drink. Although it was nearly midnight there was enough light to be able to see the sides of the fjord quite clearly (not quite the midnight sun, but fairly close). The ship turned around at the end of the fjord and we made our way back to the main channel. We then went to bed and straight to sleep, only briefly waking for the anchor drop at Stokmarknes (00:50-01:00) and being oblivious of Sortland (02:30-03:00) and Risoyhamn (04:15-04:30).

Nice family-run hotel in Bodo

We had a very pleasant stay in this quiet family-run hotel while waiting to board the hurtigruten, Convenient location for the town, railway station and ferry. Excellent service and facilities. The breakfast selection was excellent and high quality. Much more character than a typical chain hotel.
