... is difficult to appreciate that 370 million cubic metres of water can move at speeds beyond 30 km per hour. If one were standing on the bridge spanning this feature it might be more dramatic. New and full moons add even more velocity, which is a bit hard to comprehend.

Bodo (at over 45,000) is the second largest city in northern Norway and a place worth the visit. The 2.5 hour stop allows for a very good hike about town. Bodo is an ...

Bodø, North Norway, Norway sinilintu... on deck 3, just a deck below the main entrance hall. Deck 3 is the ship's lowest accessible deck, with the aft dedicated to car and freight storage and the forward areas housing the cabins. We had selected the cheapest exterior cabins and despite the discounted price, the offering was not disappointing. Up near the bow, the cabin was spacious enough with 2 portholes, a private bathroom, clothes rack and 2 beds (1 of which folded up as a sofa). With all its features cabin 308 did ...
Bodø, North Norway, Norway v1213... so I will do my best to remember everything I've done so far and get you up to date. First, let's start with my friends here. There are 3 other American girls, Mikey (from Utah), Megan, and Amy (both from Arkansas) and we've gotten along well since the beginning. We all live in the same building, but in different apartments. Each apartment has three separate bedrooms and a shared kitchen/dining area, toilet, shower and storage closet. Robin, a Norwegian guy who lives ...
Bodø, Norway jazzoboe... it, but it should be here any time! The student home I'm living in here is within walking distance from a grocery store and a couple resteraunts as well as the main school building. My room is nice and large, and for the time being I am sharing the apartment with two Russian business students, but I think they will be leaving soon so I may have new roommates later. The weather ...
Bodø, Norway jazzoboe... the fjord which a huge waterfall on the other side. Another place I won't ever forget. The rest of the day was spent enjoying each others company and just hang out around the house. (All 10 girls were put in the same house together). The next day was, for me, the best of the trip. We were able to sleep in, which was about 8 or so. Kristin, Bryanna and I went for a morning stroll around the seashore. Absolutly amazing ...
Bodø, Norway tinga... Needless to say, he was nice to look at. After their party we went over to the Labour party (they were the ones winning in the election). Both groups were facinating because they were so different from what you'd see in the US. It was a lot of fun. Tuesday, we were still in Trondheim and all we had to do that day was go to Nidaros Cathedral. OMG! The most beautiful place I have ever been. We had some free time during the day so we sat ...
Bodø, Norway julieflickner3... cabin that also happened to be the hang out because we had one entire TV channel that played exciting things like futbol and Norwegian idol. We also had the biggest kitchen so we were put in charge of eating dinner. We feasted on a huge batch of spaghetti and meat sauce, and salad. It was delicious. After dinner and the clean up process, Julie and I took a walk down to the river that we could see from our window and walked on the ...
Bodø, Norway korvette923... mountains around us as we drove around and through them, through the tunnels. The length of these tunnels varied from less than a km to over 8 kms. The fjords were so elegant and their reflection in the dark waters of the lakes and the ocean was quite something. In a way it was Milford Sound all over again for me. We drove to Fauske that night, which involved taking a ferry. We camped that night after a long time of searching for a decent campsite.
Fauske, Norway samira_steve... It was also heated to a temperature slightly above comfort levels but this seems to be how the Norwegians like it. CK was happy to see us and got even happier when we produced the beers and vodka we'd brought him. Prices in Norway are generally higher than in the UK but alcohol is especially expensive. The week we were there it never got too cold but the huge piles of snow everywhere were a constant reminder that we were inside the Artic ...
