... was hotter still and we cycled for a couple of hours in the morning around the quiet cycle lanes linking pretty little villages. It was too hot to do anything in the afternoon,

... back to the 16th, when one monk from Switzerland arrived in the valley. Today there is again only one monk, who runs the monastery more as a business, with a farm, horses, restaurant, guest house, vegetable garden and wine cellar. It was quite a steep uphill climb at the start, but not particularly scary, but before long the track narrowed and the steep drops either side became more intimidating. ... I had a wurstsalat. It was all delicious. We then took another track back to the creek then continued along the creek past rapids, pools and waterfalls. Spectacular stuff. We then continued to follow the river before joining a road that headed back to the cars. On the way we passed a a man milling timber logs into planks - it seems that he was a carpenter who built stairs, but he enjoyed milling his own timber. ...

Hello Everyone. Today we packed up from our gorgeous apartment in Milan to drive into Switzerland and then Austria. It was an amazing drive through the Swiss alps with huge mountains and green grassy valleys. There were gorges so deep with amazing rivers and streams rushing below. Waterfalls came down the mountainsides at every bend in the winding road. The houses were quaint little chalets all with window boxes full of gorgeous colourful flowers. ...
