Miles Today: 13.2 total miles: I lost track. Woke up today at the parador.... estoy bien. I ate some leftover sorreno ham and bread, a beer, and left to get some cafe con leche and zumo de naranja at a cafe down the street. Jens got the biggest chorizo and egg sandwich I have ever seen in my life. I didn't start hiking until 11am. ... winds on the Pyrenees but also hail & heavy rain. He told us that 2 young people broke their leg, & one an ankle going down the steep hill into Roncesvalles the day he crossed. We were so lucky that we didn't leave St Jean till the 2nd, as the heavy winds were bad enough.Chatted to some very friendly Pellegrinos from Canada, USA & Australia while doing our washing.

... the words "electric shower", you leg it. And there are always pros and cons to every flat. You play flat-hunting Russian roulette trying to decide on your home for the foreseeable future, in a matter of hours.

You do all this while also trying to settle in to a new place, start a new job, and with the knowledge that the clock is ticking on whatever hostel you've booked for the first few days.

... outdoor cafés with elegantly dressed local, but alas no food being served!!!! They were all having a wonderful time chatting/ smoking and just sipping on wines or coffee. The only eateries seemed to be many stand- up Tapas bars . We realised then that Spaniards " sit down to drink and stand up to eat!"
