We left Azofra at 7:30am, after a noisy night from the locals celebrating in the plaza. I smelt a fire in the night; I think it was fireworks. We walked about 5 miles into Cirquena for a morning refreshment (not a beer yet -- Aquarius), then 4 more miles into Santo Domingo. We found a shop to buy some new insoles for our shoes. 20 steps to coffee and brekky and hit the road just before 7. Today is all hard surfaces, some bitumen or rocky country roads. No mud, that's the morning bonus. 24 kms, freaking freezing though it says 16 degrees the wind chill blows that away, sunny and we could see our shadows today.

As as we walk again through the rural country side, we notice the thinning of pilgrims as the Irish have mostly returned home ...

... So I very humbly and sadly declined and pushed on to Ventosa for said coffee. The Albergue in Najera was lovely though very cramped and felt even more so when I had to creep in at 10.45 and try and find my pyjamas in my pack without making any noise - yeah right! (everyone is supposed to be in and silent from 10pm and the owner of the Albergue actually tracked us down in the local restaurant and directed us 'home'!! ) Najera was nice and made much more enjoyable by the ...
