A new wind

Arrived in Beldorado with a new friend, having lost my traveling companion of six days. Communication is challenging on the Camino. It is impossible to stay in the same gait as another for a period of time, and easy to pass one another on a bathroom stop. Wifi is a savior in these moments but it means only communicating once or twice a day. I think we'll meet again, but it creates a sense of helplessness and need to simply let go. Leaving ...

... was another Camino angel. She took about 20 mins cleaning and bandaging Keith's feet and strongly recommended we didn't continue. She gave us the name of an albergue. It felt very right to follow her suggestion so asked for directions how to find it. By the time we got to Albergue Ave de Paso they were already expecting us as the pharmacist had rung them. A town well maintained with original period houses that have family crests and armorial shields carved on them. ...

Miles Today: 13.2 total miles: I lost track. Woke up today at the parador.... estoy bien. I ate some leftover sorreno ham and bread, a beer, and left to get some cafe con leche and zumo de naranja at a cafe down the street. Jens got the biggest chorizo and egg sandwich I have ever seen in my life. I didn't start hiking until 11am. It was an easy hiking day - long flat roads that went through farmland and also spent a lot of time next to ...

We Found our Pace

... of the hotel, and for 5Euro each, we had a good bunk, clean shower, and a clothes-line in the sun. What a treat to have arrived early enough to do laundry with enough time for it to dry. What does it say about my days now, when laundry is an exciting event to look forward to?? This is the pace of the walkers. They get up early and hit the road usually before the sun has risen. They walk until lunch time, which is usually around the time the Albergues ...
