... myself, although I (apparently) did trip over the kerb leaving the bar and strolled off trying to play it cool, which I wasn't. On Wednesday we had planned to go on a bike ride around the Samoeng Loop, which is a 100km of winding roads up and around the hills outside the city. The curry I had and the beer lead to this idea being abandoned. Instead I spent quite a bit of time on the loo, until the afternoon, when we went to a couple of cafes, as Susie fancied another cake and I wanted ...

Tuesday was another beach day, with some shopping thrown in for good measure! We also parasailed over Patong Beach, which was a fabulous experience – a feeling of weightlessness as you 'fly’ over the beach, then land back on the sand. Special experience. The evening was spent exploring kata beach area and we had a really nice dinner along the ...

... not have another meal for the whole day. It leaves me feeling light by the end of the day which is great. After breakfast I'm very full but the routine had been to go back to the room for a rest after breakie and then head to the pool or beach where I swim off some of the energy. I like this routine. Anyway, after breakfast we decided to go to the beach even though it was a pool day because it was our last full day and tomorrow we would probably only have ...

... Phi Phi or Phuket, perhaps there are some other islands and beach towns that would be more to our tastes. I just don't think we would go out of our way to come back, but if we happened to be in the vicinity, it could happen.

For all the ups and downs in Thailand, we've ended our time here on a high, with a small measure of redemption. It's been far from perfect in Southern Thailand, but finally, on our last day, maybe we managed to find just a little bit of paradise ...
