Another story worth mentioning is a burger eating contest taking place in a relatively new bar in town. The challenge is to eat a 1.25 kilogram burger (comes out to 2.75 pounds), fries and coke in under 30 minutes. I was told about it by a very close friend, and had true intentions of eating it. April 5 is Qingmen festival day, and a public holiday, so we had a rare Sunday off.

I went across to Foshan with another NZ teacher who lives in NanGuoAoYuan (my complex) and we met up with David, who I taught with in Xi'an.

Zumiao Temple is an old temple by Guangdong standards, and was very impressive. Because it was Qingmen festival day, there were dragon dances and we happened to be there in time to see ...

... as these, I’ve done all I can to plan and ready myself, but I know things will change, stuff will come up, and days will come where you don’t want to do anything. And as well as I’ve planned I have to be flexible with what’s to come and be willing to accept not everything goes to plan. Having said that, I look forward to my time in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. It’ll be a memorable trip and one that will stay with me for a very long ...
