... the river, but fell into disrepair. It has now been restored, is on a trailer and can be hired for festivals, parties and such like. Its head moves from side to side, beak opens and closes, wings flap up and down and eyelashes flutter. All of this is operated by two people inside the pelican (whoever said that his mouth can hold more than his belly can?) who operate various pullies, ropes and things. The eyelashes are particularly fabulous! There is ...

Caloundra, Queensland, Australia benandem24... there were several kinds of parrots that flew around to trainers stationed throughout the stadium, water birds that swam and dove for fish in the center pool, and snakes brought around by keepers through the crowd. it was a memorable day for sure. i have hundreds of pictures (literally) and about 10 videos that i took throughout the day. i have tried to sort out only the very best to post, so that you don't spend half your day just ...
Beerwah, Queensland, Australia katelin... 20 minutes inland from the beach. they have a great wrap-around farmer's porch where i'll sit and read for hours and since the house overlooks a valley, sometimes i watch the lightning from the afternoon thunderstorms that roll down off the hills towards the ocean. inland from the coast a very thick and lush forest dominates the scenery and is referred to as "Hinterland." from what i've gathered it's ...
Bli Bli, Queensland, Australia katelin... they really do whoop and clap!). We spent the following day at the zoo, met another girl on the bus who walked round with us. The Zoo was really good. We saw countless animals and caught plenty of talks and shows. The best thing was even though we went on a saturday it was big enough not to seem busy. Highlights included elephant feeding, watching the show in the ...
Noosa, Queensland, Australia tripofalifetime... että parhainkaan uimari ei pystyisi siinä uimaan. Me ollaan tämän reissun aikana nähty "mutapottuja". (kortin kuva, Mud Pools, New Zealand, sihteerin huom). Joskus ne poksahtelee yli metrin korkeuteen. Me ollaan käyty uimassa sellaisessa kuumassa joessa, johon ne kaikki mutapottujen vedet virtasivat. Toivottavasti siellä on ollut kivaa ja edes vähän lunta. Terveisin: Henrikki

Tanaan meidan asuntolassa on isot bileet ja monet naapurista on kateellisia, ku ne ei saa tulla sinne. :) Ainakaan aluks, ku siella on tarjolla ruokaa eika Unicentralin (meidan asuntolan) ihmiset halua tarjota ruokaa koko kylalle. Urheilumahdollisuuksiakin on.. 25 metrinen uima-allas ja tenniskentta sadan metrin paassa kampasta ja vahan matkan paassa aidan toisella puolella on iso puisto missa ...
Sippy downs, Australia mirka_blog... and an unflappable unhappiness had replaced our previous determination. I do not exaggerate when I say this was my most trying time at Wallaby Creek. This was due largely to the infuriating difficulty of the routes in very inclement weather, data collection in rain, smoky clothes and stinging eyes from daily drying over a badly ventilated wood-burning stove, and the increasing feeling that we were not collecting good data, due to equipment malfunctions ...
Caloundra, Australia mattador... It didn't and we didn't. I spent the afternoon reading John Krakauer's Into Thin Air, a tale of his hike to the summit of Mount Everest, in which eleven people ultimately lost their lives. Though I have no desire to climb anywhere the use of supplemental oxygen is practically a must, it did remind me of how much I miss hiking in the Cascades, or anywhere above the tree line for that matter. I finished the book and took a ...
