Baravi Road, Netwown Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji
I said goodbye to my friends, they've been so kind and looked after me so well while I've been in Wellington. They dropped me off at the airport early this morning for my flight to Auckland. Then I had a long 6 hour wait for my flight to Fiji. I think I may have fallen head over heals in love with New Zealand. Defiantly a place I will return too one day, maybe for good! It's not too cultural different from home, the landscapes are epic and I'd certainly have a better quality of life down here...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji christospDidn't do a lot today, loitered around the pool at the hostel for a while, visited the pretty awful beach near a big backpackers called Smugglers Cove. The beach here is gray and uninviting with a rather dark murky coloured ocean, you certainly wouldn't come here for the beaches but Nadi is primarily just a transport hub for people arriving and departing Fiji. Nadi is on the west coast of the biggest Fijian island, Viti Levu. The capital of this tropical archipelago is Suva on the opposite si...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji christospDay 288 - 07/12/08 Watched an amazing sunrise on the beach this morning, one of the best I've seen and nice way to start my final day on the islands. I was up so early due to sleeping only half an hour last night, was attacked by more bugs in bed. My face is covered once again in bites, this time around my eye which made me look like I'd just fought 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, great!! Another example of the tropics saying goodbye to me before I leave for the more temperate climate of Europe. A...

... is great. Hammocks under the trees, beach volleyball, free canoes to get over to the othe beach, best coral for snorkelling around, opportunities to go scuba diving and amazing food!!! We arrived with a group of 5 others and we made friends so quickly that by the end of the first night it was like we'd been there for ages! We styayed here 2 nights and evryday was amazing! It starts with an early morning swim- 7:30... to get out to where the Mantarays feed. These are giant sting rays with ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji stretchy_24... evening so we decided that we would only stay for one night and try and get to the islands as fast as we can as we had spoken to people who had just come from the islands and said they had lots of sunshine!
Aft er dinner we were in the dorm which housed easily thirty people and at a quick glance I saw something on my bed....a dead bed bug. I put it in a tissue and myself and Sara marched to reception demanding to be moved. They were fully booked up and ...
... bar/hang out area and waited around til lunch was ready. The resort is a dive resort and we thought we might go on one dive but the dive addict in me soon came out and before long I had Alan convinced we should do the Adventure Diver's course. We spent the afternoon on the beach relaxing and that evening we signed up for the course, had some dinner and a few beers. The resort organises entertainment every night and that night was 'fun and games' night. There ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji alandrach... clear and bath warm water gazing down over an intricate and delicate marine landscape while sharing space with schools of fish that most people only see in the fish tank in their lounge, not to mention the four mini Jaws' that swam menacingly just a few feet away from me! So onto the land of the long white cloud, AKA New Zealand, for the fifth country on my world tour, and my most anticipated. Let's just hope my bowels stay on form eh?!!! DJW
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji davewhite88... airport, we hopped into his little rental and took a beautiful 3 hour drive to the East side of the island. We arrived to Suva by lunch time. We walked around the busy city, checking out the farmers market and the town square. It was here that we met a very friendly Fijian who offered to show us a good local restaurant. We all had curry because that's what they are known for and it was the best I ...
Auckland, New Zealand spelkebrozDid nothing on Beachcomber all day, sat in the shade of the bar terrace peering out to sea. Didn't feel hung-over, just tired after very little sleep over the last couple of days. Departed the party island in the late afternoon, Next stop Southsea Island, a tiny sand bank just south of Beachcomber towards the mainland. Southsea is only a 100 metre wide patch of white sand and is truly idyllic, never spend a night on an island as small as this place. There were a crazy ...
Southsea Island, Mamanuca Islands, Fiji christosp... just as bright and impressive as the ones you see in pet shops and on the TV. The effect of the water was to magnify everything which meant that the fish felt almost close enough to touch. However, my own overriding feeling was of having stepped (or rather swum) into a Bond film and I almost expected to see someone shoot past behind a yellow mini-sub with a harpoon gun in hand! Once the boat had dropped us back ashore, we tried out the snorkelling gear in the ...
