... a bit further south to Temperance River State Park and walked part of the trail down past the waterfall to the rocky shore line of Lake Superior. We drove back to Grand Marais and enjoyed a beer on a roof top terrace listening to a local musician playing his country music.
All too soon it was time to hit the road back to Thunder Bay after a great day out in the warm September sunshine.
... boys had discovered a little walk up a creek that led into the lake, it went up to the road above and under. They enjoyed walking hunched over through the drain pipe, trying no to step on the trickle of water at their feet. Wonderful to see them outdoors exploring.
Before long it was time for us to depart, hard to say good bye to Laura as it's unknown when we will see each other again. Great to know she has such a great partner.
... deck it sounded similar to the ocean with little waves lapping at the rocks and shore. It didn't have quite the rhythm of the ocean, lovely sound though.
Once everyone was dressed we headed out for a walk. The walk itself was just along a gravel road in front of the house but there were wild raspberries, many interesting fuzzy caterpillars and wild flowers along the way.
Mac'n'cheese Auntie Tina style was gobbled ...
... the lake for a couple if hours. Calm seas greeted us with a gentle breeze cooling our faces as we paddled along the shore for several miles. A loon allowed us to drift within a few feet.
The girl at the campground desk had me outed she picked blueberries up by Seagull lake the other day and told us to look for an area where the granite sticks out of the ground. We passed several parked cars of blueberry pickets finally ...
... and although not written by a local from the Arrowhead region, I felt that it aptly describes the serenity of calm water kayaking.
