... meant it was going to have to be a very quick lunch and then back down to deck 2 and board a tender to the pier.
The tour I had booked for the afternoon was a hike along the top of a glacier, however, getting to the glacier was to be the exiting part and that was by helicopter.

... ready to board for the return trip. The weather out on the glacier was FREEZING. The actual temperature was 2 degrees but the wind chill made it about -10 degrees. The guides are out in these glaciers for about 8 to 10 hours per day. They obviously take turns but considering all of them are working there in summer jobs while they are on break from college, it amazes me how they cope with the conditions.

... next stop was Juneau the capital of Alaska, which was founded by a gold rush in 1880
we hopped on a shuttle to the Mendenhall glacier which was awesome,majestic even,with a bluey,aqua tinge of colour to it,and nearby was a huge waterfall,and we saw salmon in the streams,it was amazing.
next stop was Icy Strait point.a small town where there is a lot of marine life,we saw lot and lots of salmon ,and quite a few eagles.

... driver instructed everyone on the bus to bring nothing into the park except for plain water. Bears roam freely in the area and can get confrontational if you even have flavored water. After seeing the size of some bears I have no doubt who would win in a confrontation. The parking lot has bear proof garbage containers and we later found out, so does downtown Juneau. The glacier is spectacular and you can get great pictures from the visitor's center ...
... We made a stop in the Alaska Brewing Company Store, for Matt, unfortunately they don't have beer in downtown location but they have tshirts. After stopping in several store, some stops better than others. We decided to call it a day.
Our final stop before the ship: Tracy's King Crab Shack! We got a sampler, crab cakes, crab bisque and a king crab leg! It was all delicious! Not sure why we didn't order more and skip dinner on the ship.
