... the church. Snap !!!
We followed the river along as usual, and even more people were out. There was no solitude and the bird life was disappearing fast, however, the houses were not. They were getting bigger and someone had even manage to build a replica castle !!! As we walked out of Maidenhead, we came to another of Isambard Kingdom Brunel bridges, with this one being quite famous. At the ...
... back to Jill and Simon's through some terrible traffic and time to start sorting out all of our stuff ready to pack.
We had another lovely dinner and dessert, and then a big struggle to get the boys off to sleep. Both were getting upset about leaving the girls behind tomorrow, especially Florence. But eventually all little boys fall asleep. Then Mark & I culled some of the stuff and then started to pack a few bags before collapsing into bed.
... in London. It was a very touristy-type place, but that's in part the biggest contribution to the town-like flare of Windsor. Cobblestone streets were all around, along with quaint little cafes with tables on the cobblestone streets. Walking up to the castle we could hear a band and decided to go ahead and walk inside. It was nice to walk around the grounds of the castle. I didn't learn very much about ...
Windsor, England, United Kingdom pukky... for the first time. Unlike all the stories you hear of them not being able to move because of the ceremony they were marching and moving all over. Two by two they would march down the hill and be meet at the guard house by the captain who would do an inspection before they retired to the guard house. There was a band standing idle at this point but we knew something was coming. We stood and watched for a while but it was ...
Windsor, England, United Kingdom devinwatson... over 4.5 sq. miles of floorspace, you could fit Macy's in NYC into a bathroom at Harrods. I can't even begin to describe the things they sell there, everything from Rolex's to Cocker Spaniels (I'm not kidding they had pets for sale on the fourth floor!) And then there's an entire food section with actual restaurants, bakery's, fish markets, etc all inside the store. We walked through 1.5 floors and then left, it was all too overwhelming. Friday night we ...
Windsor, England, United Kingdom hellotara... as these options will give you the opportunity to meet the locals. If you travel in 1st class, you will be alone in your 2 berth sleeper. It is a nice way to get some privacy and be able to relax but if you do a lot fo stop overs and spend only 24 hours on the train the most, there is not much point of doing this. You might miss out on meeting some nice people this way. If you are in any doubt of anything, feel uncertain about your plans and not sure where ...
London, England, United Kingdom kosita... of my first aid supplies Hair grip and hair band (as my hair grew being able to tie it up in the heat was essential) Small emergency washbag - containing minature versions of soap, moisturiser, spare contact lenses, travel tooth brush, travel hand towel, deo, eye shield, *ear plugs and other mini wash bag essentials (I felt that this small replication of essentials was my insurance policy in the event that my Big "checked-in" bag went missing on ...
London, England, United Kingdom dstean... constantly seem to be looping round and missing where you are aiming for. It was a lovely town though, and I esp. liked how people biked everywhere. I also checked out the history of science museum, which was small but very interesting, and did a bit of shopping. I bought myself a lovely (but tres expensive!) coat. Tues I said goodbye to Stephen and Maria and headed into London to stay in a hostel in St Pauls for a couple of nights. Visited the British Museum ...
London, United Kingdom, United Kingdom darcygirlnz... the country. That was kind of wierd. We got on the jet and flew to London. It took a little over an hour to get to London. When we got there it was about 7 am in the morning in London. We took the bus to London which took 2 hours and went straight to Piccadilly Circus. When we got there we found the biggest bookstore in London called Waterstones and reserved copies of the new Harry Potter book. Next we went to find our ...
London, United Kingdom dachocochick... for sure. But one thing is for certain, there are no lack of things to do in London, and if you are willing to pay, all the more so ... :-) Am here for a couple of meetings, and had a bit of time visit a few sights along the way. I've been to London before so I ain't too enthused about sightseeing ... not much time available anyway. Visited Spurs ground, White Hart Lane, which was a disappointment. Spent a ...
