    ... on the Kolona Harbour, near the tower and lighthouse of St. Nicholas. The church was beautiful inside and had large chandelier s in it.     ... which was a pretty spot. Nearby was the Metropolitan Church of Annunciation, situated on the Kolona Harbour near the tower & lighthouse of St. Nicholas.     ... as far back as the Bronze Age.

    The main square holds the remains of a temple dedicated to Apollo. Shops and homes covered the hillside alongside the temple.

    A reservoir has been uncovered, big enough to have served 400 families.

    What really fascinates me are columns and stones that still are engraved with Greek writings. I wish we could get translations to see what these residents ...

    ... was glorious. No crowds to get in the way. We made it to the Palace Of The Grand Masters almost as soon as the doors opened. It is a huge fortress, and palace taking up a good chunk of Old Town, and overlooking the harbor. Very cool place. As we were leaving the tour groups were just starting to arrive.     Our tour started with a visit to Mt Philerimos where the Church of Our Lady is situated. It is built over the ruins of a Greek temple dedicated to the Goddess Athena and Christian catacombs and is 1000 feet above sea evel so gives some great views.
