Sao Paulo

... t recommend going anywhere near there at night, but defo worth a look during the day.

Oh, bus ride from Rio to Sao Paulo took 7 hours and cost R$81 each, and was very comfortable, reeclining seats and footrest. Make sure you take a sleeping bag though as it gets cold cos of the air-con. Get the bus from Rodovirio in Rio to Tiete. We bought bus ticket at the terminal with a company called 1001.

Au revoir

the first of many long distance bus journeys

... C, to catch a bus to the airport. Needless to say we were hot and tired but, we made our flight in good time, and upon landing in Sao Paulo at 9pm, we decided to try and make the 11.30pm overnight bus to Campo Grande (a city of the Pantanal region, to do some MORE wildlife spotting!), mainly because we had no real desire to see much of Sao Paulo. We luckily caught a connecting transfer bus to the coach station pretty much immediately after collecting our bags, and made it in time to ...

¨shake what your momma gave ya¨

... give their whole life to a purpose is a beautiful thing.
Even if we find humans that are purely purposeful, and in a “good” way (theoretically what the majority may think is “good”- but that’s a whole other conversation), how could we say that one purposeful man’s work is insufficient to anothers? In practical terms- and this is the socratic method- why shouldn’t we all just move to some 3rd world island and ...

Stuck in traffic...

... manky. More pets. More like Australia. But there is one thing that has thrown me about the dog culture here - they pee whereever they want. And ****. Even when there's a perfectly good tree nearby. I always thought that it was a dog's natural instinct to **** and **** on a tree. Apparently not. In the middle of the road, on the sidewalk, on the path. Don't worry about all the trees around. Anywhere will do... 1 ...

A quick stop in São Paulo

EN route from Paraty to the Pantanal wetlands in West Brazil, we stopped off for two nights in São Paulo. We had been advised that the city doesn´t have much for tourists, but with open minds we were determined to track down the cultural life of Brazil´s biggest city. We went to the Museu de Arte São Paulo, which has a few big attractions including Cezanne, Goya ...

BROKEN HEARTS AND DEPORTATION - PART II

... life could be seen thriving in the dense rainforest and tasted in the misty, rich air. It was like the end of the world, almost. The whole awesome scene was wasted on me. It could inspire no hope on this day. Boy, I felt bad. When I stood on a catwalk below Garganta do Diablo, getting drenched by the rain of one of Iguacu's mightiest falls, I felt as though I was actually in "A Garganta do Diablo" (the throat of the devil). I wasn't over her, and I was a fool ...
