Bariloche - Zermatt of Argentina

Bariloche and the surrounding landscape is a jewel in Argentina and a must-see place if you are in Patagonia and the great lake district. Relaxing, hiking, and swimming for the braves in the lake are some of many activities to pursue there.

Bariloche - Pretty Patagonia

... less enthusiastic (yep, pretty bad). On the positive side, the cold must mean red wine weather, and our hostel has an excellent beer on tap.<br>But one of the best parts of Bariloche that deserves a mention are the huge supermarket sized shops that sell nothing but.... chocolate!! (ok, so I am a little deprived - chocolate doesn't seem to exist in Peru).

... of the region, the landscapes. Rainy, so everybody stays in the hostel all day and watches movies. The weather in Buenos Aires is the same, cold and rainy. BA is a spectacular city, and I want to do it justice in the summer or spring when it is full of life, and drenched in saturation. Iguazu Falls are the exact opposite, and the Brazilian-Argentine border is dry as a bone, and the falls are running at less than 40% capacity. Not that I need to justify my reason ...

Patagonia Part 4 - Broken in Bariloche

... ride! For the next 20 Km there were lots more walls to be hit along with views of huge sapphire lakes, dense pine forests, walks up lots of hills and free wheeling the down hill bits! 5 hours later, after a couple of stops, a cake and a beer we reached the end of a challenging ride - 40km in total! It is still to be decided whether Caroline enjoyed it or not - you might notice on Flickr that no pictures of her exist after the ...

Bariloche - Argentina

... famous road, more a gravel path, called the Siete Lagos or Seven Lakes route. Stunning views of blue lakes and green backdrops was a great way to spend a couple of days, taking small walks around some of them and stopping at the little town of San Martin de los Andes for the night, traveling back another way through more lake scenery. Another really beautiful part of the country.

... and it´s surrounded by the Andes mountains which, despite it being summer and sunny, are still topped with snow. It´s so pretty. I´ve taken some pictures but you just can´t do it justice. We didn´t do anything on the first day as we didn´t get here till late afternoon. I took my laundry to the launderette and then we went for some burgers. That first day was Scott´s, one of the new Americans, birthday so we all went out for a group dinner and then a few ...

... tent and other gear for camping. By the time we reached the first hut, I was not feeling great, but Michelle was all better. The wonder of modern medicine (ibuprofen for aches and pains) got me up the 12 km and very, very dusty path. The breathing of dust for 6 hours did not help out my respiratory trouble though. That night we spent in the hut and by the morning, I felt bad enough that we decided to forfeit the rest of the ...

You had to fill out like a 3 page form where you had to sign your name next to like 25 statements all stating that YOU COULD DIE (in big bold lettering) and that you except responsibility and agree not to sue in case of such a circumstance. Hah, how the **** are you going to sue when you are dead. A bit of a ...
